To my founders doing it all — this one’s for you.

You are in the trenches and can’t figure out how to get out. If you don’t do it, who will? You don’t want to micromanage, but you find yourself doing it because it’s how things actually get done.

You trust your team — but if you really think about it, maybe not fully.

You stay in the middle of everything because you have to. Because you haven’t had the time to build the structure and your team to perform the way you need.

You’ve been too busy making it happen.

This is normal.

Yes, it’s more common than you think. The difference between you and the founder you see who takes vacations and sleeps through the night? They got the help they needed.

They’re not wrong. No one will ever be as invested in your business as you are. That’s just the truth of building something from nothing.

What I know is that waiting for your team to care as much as you do is not a strategy. It’s a set up.

Accountability and ownership aren’t things people are necessarily born with. They’re the result of structure. Clear expectations, defined roles, and systems that catch balls before they drop.

When that structure doesn’t exist, your team doesn’t fail you. The structure fails your team. And then you end up doing what founders always do: noticing, fixing, and carrying everybody else’s load.

That’s not a people problem. That’s an operations problem. And operations problems are fixable.
