After 18 years working with survivors of abuse and trauma, and having first hand experience as a survivor of sexual abuse, Kimberly saw the lack of success traditional forms of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology had in restoring a secure and functional lifestyle to those seeking help coping with life
traumas and difficult transitions. Having seen countless people cycle through the psychiatric forums, some continuing in services from childhood through adulthood as patients, never having made the improvements they desired so as to be truly and independently functional again in their own lives, Kimberly sought to bring the power of healing back to the individual. In years of running groups in a non-traditional manner, Kimberly learned from her clients that healing has to start with the way we think before it will manifest in our daily lives. Behaviors made sense when observed in the context of how they were created in the first place, as the product of life experiences. All too often people would seek out the quick fix that came from a pill bottle only to be disappointed when the change was not permanent and the life patterns continued. The thought that someone could spend a decade in therapy and be no better off than when they started is an abomination. The Greenstone Paradigm is based on the concept that all behaviors have logical explanations, and that in order for someone to find healing in their own life, they need to first identify what normal is for them. It's the concept that true healing comes from within, from understanding oneself and learning to feel normal again in one's own life. It comes from self-empowerment and goal driven aspirations.
