Mid Summer Tips for Maintaining a Tall Fescue Lawn:

Did you know:
Tall Fescue is a cool season grass, it thrives best in temperatures between 60 degrees and 80 degrees.
The grass blade itself retains moisture that it uses especially in stressful conditions like 90 degree temperatures.
Cutting a cool season lawn low in the summer will brown the lawn out and invite weeds.

The Do Nots:
1) Cut your lawn low from May to September. 3.5 inches or higher is a must. Tall Fescue, the name says it all.
2) Cut your lawn on a hot and dry stressful day. If you must cut cut early morning or late evening.
3) Not watering your lawn.
4) Over Watering in the middle of the day or hot evening>if drainage in your lawn is a concern bad watering times can lead to lawn diseases. (Dollar Spot and Brown Patch)

The Good Things to Do:
1) Reduce foot traffic on lawn when weather is hot.
2) Keeping pet urine off the lawn. There urine will burn the lawn especially in hot weather.
3) Establish a water pattern. (Example: 15-18mins, 3 days a week)
4) Change your cutting pattern each time you cut your lawn.
