Off season is always a great time to study the soil base for lawns to understand what is currently taking shape with the soil. Soil conditions will determine your lawn’s outcome based on what’s being applied.
Example: we notice w**d control and fertilizer is working only for a short period on this property, after pulling soil for an analysis, results indicate the PH is balanced however the soil is deficient in Phosphorus and Potassium. If fertilizer is being applied on a regular bases and the deficiency is current, the analysis show a significant point of poor saturation.

Poor saturation allows nutrients and chemicals to leach through the soil, passing by the grasses root system which leaves little to no time for plant absorption. There is your problem, fixing that issue now so that lawn treatments can be more effective and beneficial to the customer.

Tips and Updates to Having a Successful Lawn Seeding Season.

Tips:
1) Lawn preparation makes a huge difference in seed growth.
*Remove debris and items on lawn on service dates.
*Lawns should be cut to 2 inches prior to aeration/seeding services. (Allows new growth to maximize oxygen and light for healthy seed germination)
2) Watering the lawn after seeding is a must for at least 2 weeks at 15-18mins daily.
3) Reduce foot traffic on new lawn, new grass does not have the ability to recover in time before regions first frost.
4) Avoid cutting your lawn after seeding for at least 3 weeks, this allows for growth and less traffic on lawn.
5) After your new lawn begins its growth, Tall Fescue Lawns should always be cut at 3.5 to 4.5 inches tall. A thick lawn helps keep w**ds out. When cutting below 3.5 inches you put tall fescue at health risk and give w**ds a kick start. It's call Tall Fescue for a reason!

HGT Updates:
* Properties with no Service Gate access for machine access will be subject to liquid soil application to reduce compaction.
* Service Fence/Gates need to be at least 5 feet wide for Aeration Machine Access.
* Properties with locked gates on service appointment days will be subject to a $35 service code if Technicians have no access.

Most lawns in our region host Tall Fescue with some bluegrass mix. Notice we are waking up to mid to low 50 degree temperatures with highs in the 70’s in late Aug in Maryland! Once soil temperatures drop below optimum germination temps, seeds will not germinate.
