How can you evaluate Government Contracting as a market for your business?

1. Ask someone!

When entering a new market, it could be very beneficial to talk with someone experienced in the market who can give you some initial insight into possible challenges.

2. Research awarded contracts.

Go to FPDS.gov to research contracts that have been awarded in your market. Use either your NAICS code or a keyword or two. Even better – use both!

3. Research upcoming opportunities.

Maybe there isn’t a lot of contract data for your innovative product or service, or maybe you want to see what opportunities look like. In either case, check out future opportunities to get a good view of the market for your business. Use your NAICS code, some keywords, or both to search sam.gov for upcoming opportunities.

There may be other market entry factors to consider, but these steps represent a fair starting point for making your market pursuit decision.

For years, has been struggling with the massive size difference between "Small Business" and "Other Than Small Business," companies, leaving "mid-size" companies in their own, undefined (and arguably undefinable) no-man's land of competition.

🚨📰** Breaking News **📰🚨

NIH/NITAAC released an update on the Draft CIO-SP4 Self-Scoring Worksheet offering "Mid Tier" Bonus Points!!

"Mid Tier Bonus
If you are an other than small business with average annual revenue less than ten times the small business standard for NAICS 541512 for the last three years, add additional points equivalent to 15 percent of your total score. The small business size standard for this NAICS is $30 million per year, therefore ten times the average annual revenue would be $300 million per year."

What do you think of this approach?! Will this be a gamechanger for you?
