It is only Wednesday?! With the amount of things that have happened in the past couple of days...I can’t believe it. Some highlights? Watching from One Stone facilitate a room of nearly 100 transportation industry leaders in learning design thinking mindsets and putting it to work with the activities “Yes, and...” and “Sticky Note Throw Down”! They were awesome and played an integral part in the audience’s understanding of how design thinking can truly be at the heart of human-centered workplaces. Big thanks to Idaho Office of Highway Safety and Utah DOT for bringing them into your panel!
Also, having speak with leadership of the ABC20 committee at the Transportation Research Board to share their experiences and impact using design thinking as well as the use of their mobile app among state DOT employees. Feeling incredibly lucky to be able to support the many incredible youth out there in the world!

Did you know that the power of youth is alive and well? Equality of student voice is critical...students should be at the center of their learning to engage in who they ARE as much of who they could be “someday”. Someday is now, and I am proud to be a part of the team with as they continue to disrupt the status quo with equal voice and student ownership. Who else out there is letting youth take the wheel?! .

Happy to you! Being a part of starting this very young nonprofit as a board member has been an amazing opportunity. We have been working hard to feed students across the nation who otherwise would not have access to consistent, healthy, and balanced meals. We provide organizations with after school meals to support the health of every child we can! It’s a lot of work, and our amazing founder has grown our outreach in our first year. SLA in Philadelphia was an incredible experience today. Outside of this is the first school I have visited that truly transforms students through innovative approaches to self discovery, equality of voice, and pursuit of passion and skills. AND...their founder knows every student and is still involved in the day-to-day in an incredibly authentic way. shared an obvious truth today: “Students should not be the implied object of their own learning and life.” I could not agree more...they should be wayfinding and mentored into their most authentic self everyday. Great leadership is so rare...and this guy has fostered a success story through his passion and life work. There are few people in the world who are able to do that and I feel so blessed and inspired to know some of those individuals (and get to work with them back home in Boise everyday!). To everyone out there who believes in the power of youth and the power of good...don’t quit! Seize opportunities to empower and foster greatness - every word, act, and moment have purpose.

Even though I consult with both businesses and schools, the magic that happens with kids is forever inspiring. Today, students from One Stone are working with younger kids in the community to get excited for school and personalize school supply packages for the new year to start! Why are they doing this? Because adults here believe in the power of students and students feel empowered to create their own student-driven service projects that have impact community-wide for years to come. They do this because their mentors trust them to have a voice and because their ideas and effort matter. Being able to built strategy and development in innovative ways with an organization like this has been true motivation. Friday challenge for you...go out and do something good for others today. There is never a shortage of time for goodness in the day. Let me know how it goes!

Before I embarked on this new professional adventure with Up the Scales, I had the amazing job of doing growth and development with Athlos Academies. Today marks the grand opening of their new Jefferson Parish location in Terrytown, LA. Working on bringing this school to life over the past several years and then spending Friday afternoon standing inside with families, students, and the original Board President was an experience I will never be able to describe. Truly amazing (and a little emotional) to see this school open this week with full seats, excited families, and a great support team from Athlos and the local community. Huge congrats to all involved!

You will all continue to do GREAT things.

It has been a busy stretch of time jumping in with the team at One Stone. This student-led, design thinking, brilliantly supported high school is quite possibly the most inspiring endeavor I have been invited to join!
