Our team was proud to bring Saving Black Hearts to the Zion community — raising critical awareness about heart disease in the Black community, and helping families learn how to protect the people they love.

A Meaningful Start to the Day in Cannes

One of the highlights of today was attending the BlackDoctor Brunch, hosted by Reggie Ware and Derrick Lane.

For more than two decades, BlackDoctor has been a trusted voice in our community, providing health information, resources, and advocacy that help empower Black Americans to make informed decisions about their health. Being in a room filled with physicians, healthcare leaders, advocates, and innovators who are committed to advancing health equity was both energizing and inspiring.

As someone who works at the intersection of communications, healthcare, and community engagement, I know how important trusted voices are. The conversations today reinforced the need for greater awareness, access, representation, and culturally relevant engagement, especially in communities that have historically been underserved by the healthcare system.

Showing up in these spaces matters. Supporting organizations like BlackDoctor matters. Building relationships with leaders who are driving change matters.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, and be part of the conversation.

Thank you, Reggie, Derrick, and the entire BlackDoctor team for creating a space where community, health, and impact take center stage.

Day 1 at Cannes Lions 2026
I may have arrived a day later than planned, but I’m here and ready to hit the ground running.
Feeling incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of this global gathering of creative thinkers, innovators, storytellers, and changemakers. As a business owner, lifelong learner, and communications strategist, I’m excited to immerse myself in new ideas, challenge my thinking, and explore what’s next for our industry.

Most of all, I’m looking forward to making new connections, strengthening existing relationships, learning from the best, and discovering new ways to create meaningful impact through the work we do at The Baskin Group.

Never Eclipsed. Forever Changed.

Last week, I had the privilege of graduating from the Leadership Greater Washington Signature Program as part of the incredible Class of 2026 - Never Eclipsed.

Over the past year, I've had the opportunity to learn alongside an extraordinary group of leaders from across the DMV, representing different industries, perspectives, experiences, and communities. Together, we explored the challenges and opportunities facing our region and, more importantly, our collective responsibility to help shape its future.

What I gained from this experience goes far beyond knowledge. I gained new relationships, deeper insight into our region, a broader understanding of leadership, and a renewed appreciation for the power of collaboration.

One of the greatest lessons for me was that leadership is not about being the brightest light in the room. It's about helping others shine, building bridges across differences, and creating space for collective impact.

To my classmates, thank you for your candor, your wisdom, and your friendship. To Leadership Greater Washington, thank you for creating a space where leaders can grow, challenge one another, and be inspired.

As someone who believes deeply in service, community, and equity, I leave this experience energized for what comes next and grateful to be part of a class that truly was Never Eclipsed.

Leadership is about using your voice and protecting the voices of others.

Last week, four Black journalists, Georgia Fort, Trahern Crews, Jamael Lydell Lundy, and Don Lemmon, were arrested while doing their jobs. That’s not a coincidence. It’s a reminder that for many, even the act of telling the truth comes at a cost.

Freedom of the press is a fundamental right. And yet, when Black journalists are disproportionately targeted, it raises deeper questions about whose voices are protected and whose are silenced.

As leaders, we have a responsibility to call this out and lean in. Because of how we use our platforms, how we respond to injustice says just as much as the work we do day to day.

At TBG Strategies, we believe in protecting space for truth, equity, and community voice. We believe media should reflect the people it serves. And we believe silence in moments like this is not an option.

We stand with these journalists. We stand for the right to speak.

I’ve been paying close attention to what’s unfolding around us here at home the uncertainty, the fear, the frustration, the grief. None of it exists in a vacuum. I don’t believe in separating what’s happening in the world from how we show up for one another. Ignoring the moment we’re in doesn’t make it disappear; it just creates distance.

Right now, leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about presence. It’s about empathy, steadiness, and finding ways big or small to support and engage wherever you can. It means sharing resources, creating space for conversation, and helping people feel seen and connected.

Today, I met with folks in my urban district to talk about the possibility of organizing a town hall. It was a reminder that people need to know they are not alone and that simply coming together, listening, and standing with one another matters more than ever.
