When I wrote the original message in 2009 at the Life Is A Fork In The Road page, it focused on our choices as individuals. Clearly, in the age of Coronavirus, our choices have been greatly magnified because they not only affect us and those close to us, they affect our community, country and world.
This is one of the first post I ever wrote on this page back in 2009. As we walk down a new journey together, one none of us have ever taken before, I see more meaning in this message.
When I wrote the original message which is in quotes below, it focused on our choices as individuals. Clearly, in the age of Coronavirus, our choices have been greatly magnified because they not only affect us and those close to us, they affect our community, country and world.
If we make a personal choice that is not good for others, the effects of moving that pebble on the beach could be catastrophic. We are all in this together helping each other to traverse an unknown future. We must always consider how our choices will affect others in new ways we never thought of before.
On a much larger scale. God or whomever oversees our universe has moved one pebble on the beach and changed history. Mother nature is a force beyond anyone's control. That single pebble has changed history too fast for us to grasp and adjust to. We have to take this one day at a time and each day it will continue to change right before our eyes.
Do not worry or panic about that which you cannot control. Simply act with appropriate concern and love to be helpful in every way possible. That is all we can do.
Beyond that, look for the opportunities this historic event has created just by moving one pebble on the beach. You can connect at a deeper level with your family and pets. Some of you can step back from daily life (except if your in the medical and first responder field!) and reflect.
What's truly most important in life?
How do the priorities of my life fit in with that/?
What changes will you make going forward?
"Move one pebble on the beach and you change history. No matter how much you have thought through a choice, you cannot know what the future holds. The moment you make that choice it changes things around you in unforeseen ways. Moving even a few small pebbles can set in motion changes that create new forks, new paths and new options which were hidden from your view. Sometimes you have to act first even in a little way to find the best paths for your journey." Don Shapiro, author Life Is A Fork In The Road
