War of the Northeast - Broken Windows Theory. A combined force of state, federal and military authorities closed over 30 nightclubs ("antros") in downtown Monterrey today. The purpose was to eliminat street drug and weapons sales that are rampant in the area.

Our sources indicate that the entire northeast Mexico-Texas border region is under continued contention. If one side or the other (Gulf Cartel or Zetas) were to dominate any area, it would be temporary given the hit and run attacks they are directing at each other throughout the region.
