Testing Should be the first step for COVID-19 fight!

The US is testing more than 100000 cases in a single day. The testing capacity in Ethiopia is so low .Don't even do it for 100's! - (Not comparing here) - No robust testing procedures! 🙄 The number of cases are growing with wide geographic location!

Why is testing important?

Testing allows infected people to know that they are infected. This can help them receive the care they need; and it can help them take measures to reduce the probability of infecting others. People who don’t know they are infected might not stay at home and thereby risk infecting others.

Testing is also crucial for an appropriate response to the pandemic. It allows us to understand the spread of the disease and to take evidence-based measures to slow down the spread of the disease.

Unfortunately, the capacity for COVID-19 testing is still low in many countries around the world. For this reason we still do not have a good understanding of the spread of the pandemic.

is one of the companies that has been helping Ethiopia in MDR TB diagnostics .The instrument has been there in most of the teaching hospital and public research/Clinical Laboratory. Unfortunately the reagent for this instrument has been short and in a great demand even in USA where the company is located. But still there could be a loop for developing countries like Ethiopia to get some share from the product.

Unfortunately, millions still suffer from this disease, and Multi-drug tuberculosis is the leading cause of antimicrobial resistance-related deaths worldwide.
