This morning during The Well Community Mindful Morning session, I shared one of my favorite stories—a Hindu legend about the divinity within us all.

When humans misused their divine power, the gods debated where to hide it.
Deep in the earth? The ocean? On the highest mountain?

Brahma, the chief god, said no—humans will dig, dive, and climb.

“We will hide it deep within themselves,” he said. “They’ll never think to look there.”

That story hits hard—because most of us are still searching.
We push. Perform. Achieve.
Looking out there for what’s already within us.

This photo is from a recent moment with my son Kai—standing at the edge of the ocean.

It reminded me:
Sometimes self-leadership isn’t about taking bold action.
It’s about learning to pause.

To be present enough to hear your own voice—before the world tells you what to do next.

That’s what I’ve spent the last decade learning (and unlearning).

Science Behind Dogs + Your Well-Being 🐶 Recent research suggests that interacting with dogs can actually improve your relaxation, focus, mood, & more! 🧠

A new study by Yu et al. (2024) explored how different activities with dogs impact our well-being.

Here’s the pawsome news:

🐾 Playing and walking with dogs increased alpha waves in the brain, promoting a state of relaxed alertness.

🐕 Massaging, grooming, or playing with your pup boosted beta waves, indicating heightened concentration without stress.

🐕‍🦺 Overall, participants reported feeling less fatigued, depressed, and stressed after interacting with the dog.

This research adds to the growing body of evidence that suggests dogs aren’t just pets – they’re powerful allies for our mental well-being.
