I managed to find some more 120+ year old P. F. Corbin door hardware that matched other original hardware in the house. This mortise had been empty since the homeowner purchased the house. Since locking the pocket door was not a priority, we simply added the flush pull hardware and filled in the mortise. A little added wood blocking, some sorcery from John Stahl to make things smooth, thankfully matching paint on site, and now the homeowner can walk in to something other than a big hole in a door every day.

A little safety and usability upgrade for a client who wanted to add a new handrail for this doorway from their house. It was stylistically matched to their other outdoor railings, and preservatives added to all the lumber for longevity. While this would not technically be required by code, there’s nothing wrong with adding some safety and functionality to a space.

Another saved piece using John Stahl Dura Fix. Warm weather formula in case anyone was wondering because it’s about 100 degrees outside. Easy and quick to mix and use, it saved having to chisel out and replace this post from a rear gate in the historic district, not to mention it saved a ton of time. Other pieces were replaced where needed, but this was a welcome relief.

I had some surprisingly great results today using my Festool USA track saw to cut down an acrylic panel for some clients. No doubt having the right blade helped, but the whole system made this work.

A recently installed undercabinet lighting upgrade for some VIP clients in . LED lights with a discreet but accessible dimmer switch added functionality and improved aesthetics to this often-used part of the house.

And just like that, a 100+ year old escutcheon located to match other door hardware in a historic home on now has a place. Some good resources on historic home hardware, some magic from John Stahl to make a new spot for it, and some patience in bringing it all together.

My first go with Dura-Fix and I am very impressed to say the least. The second picture shows what was left to work with, and being able to get this into a vertical surface fairly easily and cleanly has me sold on this. It will be a great asset to repair work going forward, especially in the historic district where this door is along with some of its circa 1900 original door hardware.
