Whether or not they're going all the way to space, there's a lot of science behind getting women to the top.

IMPLICIT BIAS, RACISM OR BODY-SHAMING IN THE US OPEN??!!??

The future of Women's Tennis that are coming through the doors opened by Serena and Venus Williams. The future includes COCO GAUFF, SLOANE STEPHENS, MADISON KEYS, NAOMI OSAKA, AND TAYLOR TOWNSEND.

In 2012, Taylor Townsend was told she was too fat to play in the US Open despite the fact that she, a US player was the No. 1-RANKED JUNIOR GIRLS' TENNIS PLAYER IN THE WORLD. She was clearly a young player with a bright future. However, the USTA wasn't that interested in helping her in the U.S. Open, saying she was too fat and refused to fund her expenses. You decide was it racism, body-shaming or implicit bias?

Either way, USTA later changed their tune, and 116th-ranked Townsend fought back to upset 5th-ranked Simona Halep two days ago and is playing in the third round of the US Open as we speak.

Taylor Townsend, now 20, was the top junior player in the world when she became stuck in the middle of a debate over body shaming.

For every dollar a white man makes, a white woman earns 77¢, an African American woman earns 65¢, and a Hispanic woman earns 57¢. (Graphic from Equal Means Equal.)

This new cover pic shows we have a long way to go. The graphic demonstrates the gender wage gap and the detrimental impact of intersectional discrimination. Intersectional discrimination occurs when someone is discriminated against because of the combination of two or more protected bases (e.g. gender and race). As shown here, women of color are disproportionately impacted by both patriarchy and racism.

Women's' Equality Day is Monday, August 29, 2019. This year do your part to change this graphic.

The trainings facilitated by the Branding Matters Group assist businesses in addressing the conscious and unconscious bias that leads to these disparities in the workplace.

This article artfully and intentionally explains outrage without using outrage. It's a teachable moment about privilege and how to use it wisely.

You are not a black woman, and you do not get to claim either blackness or womanhood. There is a clear line between appreciation and appropriation
