The Support for Anti-Corruption Champion Institutions (SACCI) program partnered with a FLEX Alumni Program and a local Peace Corps volunteer to implement an English-Speaking Club at the Windows on America in the city of Kherson. A SACCI team member helped lead the session that focused on reducing the participants’ tolerance towards corrupt act and increase their awareness of anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine. A quality outcome of this session was the participants’ responses after the facilitators presented the group with corrupt scenarios, such as corruption in universities and hospitals. In this instance, the participant had an honest and constructive conversation about corruption and developed conclusions as to why these situations can have a negative effect on their lives (and nation’s future). Due to the sensitive nature of any anti-corruption efforts in the city (which recently lost a citizen due to her work with AC), SACCI was grateful to find citizens and leaders in this community willing to participate in this successful session.
