Since 2019, this workshop has been hosted in more than 20 cities across 12 states and has supported hundreds of homeowners navigating renovation more steadily.

A portion of proceeds will benefit Ayuda, serving low-income immigrants in DC, Maryland, and Virginia since 1973.

✨Transformation Time! ✨ When we decided to tackle our primary bathroom, it was obvious we had hidden issues waiting to be uncovered. A stained kitchen ceiling and a terrible smell lurking behind the shower were telltale signs of what we came to find. The corroded cast iron pipes were packed with decades of buildup and not flowing well… it was definitely time for a refresh.

THE CATCH? We had a strict budget and I promised to keep things as quick and clean as possible. That meant calculated approaches, prioritizing, and trusting an exceptional contractor who could handle the heavy lifting. (Many many thanks to the true professionals at AGC Custom Builders!) They took care of the important stuff: demolition, framing, plumbing, and electrical in record time, then I joined in for the finishing details—with experiments in design and texture.

OPPORTUNITIES? With the old cast iron tub gone, we added double shower heads so we could start (or wash away) our day together without coordinating bathroom time. And, as a renovation coach and DIYer, I finally had the chance to work with tadelakt (from Color Atelier in a stunning “Wabi” hue) for that natural, soothing aesthetic I’d been dreaming of. The texture? Absolutely mesmerizing as it changes throughout the day’s light.

END RESULT? A peaceful, interesting, and functional space. Our tiny 5x7 Wabi Sabi bathroom feels open and inviting. The final look has movement, a LOT of character, and a sense of calm, all thanks to thoughtful choices in function, color, and layout.
