This round of Team Tuesday, we are featuring the incomparable Don Umbarger. Don is second-generation in this industry. His father and family helped found Bema in its earliest days, and since he was a kid, he has been a substantial part of everything we have built to this day.

There are few professionals in our Alaskan restoration industry who have not collaborated with him over the last 40 years. Due to his extensive experience providing mitigation and restoration expertise for so many decades, Don is rightfully considered one of the leading authorities on advanced structural drying, psychometrics, and complex restorative scopes specific to our unique climate and location. He is one of those rare experts—an expert’s expert in our unique trade.

Every day, he meets with new Bema clients and helps develop plans for restoring their homes and businesses to a pre-loss condition. It would not be an understatement to say that Don has worked in excess of ten thousand homes in our community. Add to this the direct training and support of hundreds of water and fire technicians over the years. His consistency, professionalism, and knowledge set the standard.

Don lives in the Mat-Su, where he raised his family, and now he’s enjoying a new era with grandchildren. Beyond all this, he still finds time to be a rabid fan of all Detroit-based sports teams, despite their consistently abysmal performance.

Before choosing a company to handle water, fire, or mold damage, ask one important question: Are they IICRC certified?

The Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification sets recognized standards for training, safety, ethics, and professional restoration practices. IICRC-certified technicians are trained to use proven methods that help protect your property and support a safer, more effective recovery.

At Bema Restoration, our team holds the IICRC Master Designation, and we have more IICRC-certified technicians than any other disaster restoration company in Alaska. This reflects the time, training, and investment we have made to ensure our team is prepared when our community needs us most.

Bema has the trusted expertise Alaskans need when disaster strikes.

Disasters don’t take holidays...

As we head into Independence Day weekend — with fireworks lighting up the sky, grills fired up, and family and friends gathering to celebrate — we’re reminded of the freedom we’re blessed to enjoy and the courage it took to secure it.

And while we hope your holiday is safe, fun, and disaster-free, unexpected problems can still show up uninvited.

If water damage, fire, smoke, or storm issues interrupt your 4th of July weekend, remember... Bema has your back.

Wishing you a safe and happy Independence Day weekend as we celebrate 250 years of freedom.

For our May Team Tuesday effort, we are highlighting a truly stellar member of our team, Jade Charron.

Jade came to work with Bema almost 4 years ago, starting as a laborer on the contents line. Since that modest beginning, she has proven herself in more ways than this brief bio could do justice. Jade is a card-carrying ICRC Water Tech; she is also certified in Fire restoration, Trauma and hazard cleanup, Contents Processing, as well as being an ace at flooring installs and repairs.

Jade is second-generation in the restoration industry, the daughter of our very own Melanie Charron. Because of this, Jade grew up coming into the office and understanding clearly what it is to step into disasters and help set things right, just like her mom. In a very short time since joining our staff, Jade has proven herself to be an absolute pro at mitigation, content processing, and client services.

Jade exemplifies the Swiss Army Knife mentality at Bema as she is just so good at whatever she puts her mind to. We couldn't be more stoked to have Jade on team Bema.
