Is being a creature of habit a bad thing? Recently my wife was out of town and my youngest kids were off to college and I had the house to myself and finding myself still closing the bathroom doors when in use. Why would I do that?
That makes me predictable, dependable, considerate.
Does that stifle innovation, free thinking outside the box?

What is Human Resources?????

Why do you have an Human Resource Professional?
How do you utilize your Human Resource Professional?

These are important questions to ask yourself as a company leader.

The Human Resource Professional should be a SME to your company to help mitigate or minimize possible issues that might arise from business decisions being made that could impact the other Humans of the company. A good Human Resource Professional should monitor the morale of the company to minimize the chance of possible walkouts, strikes, or other negative aspects.

A good Human Resource Professional should understand the other Humans of the company and be an advocate for them. If not, you might need a better Human in the Human Resource office.

If you are a Leader in the company, review your team today and get a better understanding on their duties and how they can better assist you in making good decisions for the company and all Humans involved.

If you are the Human Resource Professional, review yourself. Are you bein the best Human Resource Professional you can be?

CYBER SECURITY

How prepared is your business regarding Cyber Security?

Has your staffed been properly trained?

You can guarantee there is someone sitting overseas in China, Iraq, Russia or some other country looking like this type of bad guy attempting to steal your information and money. They could also be down the street from your office now.

Cyber Security experts almost are assured that this will happen at some point in your business. All you can do is train your people to be able to identify Phishing emails and texts.

Work with your IT dept to send out fake Phishing emails and texts to alert them to what is fake and identifying marks that can be normal in these attacks.

There are no 100% prevention tools. We can only mitigate and minimize the impact.

"The Needs of Many outweigh the needs of the One"

Spock spoke these infamous words in one of the original Star Trek movies. It is very fitting today, with the cancel culture going on and the Superstars of sport teams trying to influence their movement to preferred teams.

Each company should look at their Succession Planning and review how robust is your training department?

Do you have a plan in place to replace your high achieving personnel or even the superstars that could hinder your growth if they find something they no longer like about your company?

There are numerous reports of walk outs of employees because they feel their companies no longer align with their personal beliefs.

All companies need to be prepared to react to these situations and understand where you need to dig your heels in and fight the battle or know where your line is where you can compromise if needed.

There are a lot of muddy waters out there that are treacherous to navigate.

You need good counsel or consultants to help in these battles.

As an Highly Esteemed HR Professional, how do you chill out and unwind?
It is very important to find that release or you will not be properly warmed up, and ready for battle the next day.
Being in HR sometimes is like being in battle trying to herd the cats and be the referee for the company.
Find something that gets your mind off of work, this could be:
Landscaping
Reading
Sawing wood
Hiking
Or Chillin by the pool

Find that outlet for you. It is very important for longevity of your sanity and career in HR. This helps not only the company you are with but also your family and loved ones.

DON'T GIVE UP

We are coming up on the time of the year that historically job opportunities dry up, unless you are into retail or Logistics.

This year might be different due to Covid.

We have evolved into blaming everything on Covid like it is "Covid Law".

There should be opportunities and not just for retail or food service.

Keep a positive attitude and keep swinging for the fences.

Stay busy. Attend Webinar, Write a book. Do anything to keep your mind focused on the business and updated on what is happening.

The bottom line is that things will change and you need to be ready for that change. At some point we can stop blaming everything on "Covid Law"

Your HR professionals have to deal with very difficult issues and people on a daily basis.
Take some time to reach out to let them know you appreciate the work they do to help keep morale positive and upbeat and moving forward on a regular basis.
You might not realize it, but humans are not always easy to deal with. Look at yourself, if you are human, you are not always easy to handle, just ask someone.
