5 AM at the Columbus airport.
Wheels up to Nashville in an hour and a half to spend time with one of my Strategic Advisory clients and his team, face to face.
And this is what I’m focusing on. Creatine, collagen, eggs, LMNT, water, supplements (yeh and a parfait, lol) all plated up on top of my carry-on.
Is it a little ridiculous? Maybe. But discipline doesn’t get a day off just because I’m in seat 14C at sunrise.
Prior to 4 1/2 years ago I gave myself permission to let my health “suck.” Too busy. Too tired. Too important. (That’s the lie we tell ourselves, isn’t it?)
Not anymore.
Here’s what I’ve learned coaching business owners: how you do anything is how you do everything. The guy who “wings it” on the road is usually the same guy winging it in his business. No systems. No plan. Just hoping it works out.
The owners (and new coaches) I work with are DONE hoping.
Because the same intentionality that gets you to an early AM flight fueled and ready is the same intentionality that builds a company that runs whether you’re in the building or not. It’s the same reason I’ll get on a plane to sit knee to knee with a client. Some things are worth showing up for in person.
“For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things” (1 Timothy 4:8). At 60, I’m not chasing a six-pack. I’m trying my best to steward the body, business, and lcalling God gave me, on the road and at home.
So let me ask you what I ask a lot of my clients: what’s the ONE area you’ve quietly given yourself permission to let “suck”? And what would change if you stopped?
Pack accordingly.
