Recently, the Westfield Rotary Club was honored to welcome Danyele Easterhaus, a proud resident of Hamilton County, Indiana, and an accomplished entrepreneur, speaker, and writer with more than 20 years of dedicated experience in the nonprofit world. She delivered a profoundly inspiring message grounded in empathy and resilience, qualities she's honed through years of leadership, advocacy, and personal transformation.
Danyele visited to share moving excerpts and stories from her recent contribution to the powerful anthology Empathy Impact: The Wild Effects of Kindness in Action (available now on Amazon). This heartfelt collection features true stories from 15 extraordinary women leaders, each highlighting how acts of empathy and kindness create unexpected, far-reaching ripple effects that change lives, strengthen organizations, and uplift entire communities.
She powerfully emphasized a simple yet life-altering truth: when we take the time to truly see people—for who they authentically are and for what they genuinely need—it has the power to reshape our relationships, our workplaces, and our world. In her words and stories, empathy emerges not as a soft sentiment, but as a courageous, active force for good.
A highlight of her talk centered on her 22-year-old daughter, Brooke, a talented and joyful Special Olympian living on the autism spectrum. Brooke's vibrant life has been the catalyst for Danyele's own journey—from lovingly capturing her daughter's unique "Brookisms" in journals to stepping boldly into the role of a self-described "justice fighter." A defining chapter unfolded through Brooke's adoption story: by intentionally forging and nurturing a genuine, compassionate relationship with Brooke's birth mother, Danyele gained profound new insights into layers of systemic injustice and the urgent call for deeper compassion across all divides.
In keeping with her lifelong commitment to turning empathy into real-world impact, 100% of the proceeds from Empathy Impact directly support Louder Than Silence, a Dallas-based nonprofit that provides long-term care, community support, and essential resources to survivors of sexual violence—all at no cost to those it serves.
The book is available on Amazon, if you are interested in acquiring it.
Danyele's presence today was a vivid, encouraging reminder that empathy, when translated into deliberate action, becomes a transformative power capable of bridging gaps, healing wounds, and sparking lasting positive change. We're deeply grateful for the wisdom, warmth, and inspiration she brought to our group—her story continues to resonate as a call to lead with open hearts and courageous kindness.
