We're conducting market research for a client - can you share your thoughts about local (Wharton County) landscaping and lawn care needs? It's painless, and you have the option of providing your contact information to take advantage of discounted rates when the client launches!

Calling all Wharton-area folks 🌱 Before bringing new landscaping & lawn care services to our area, a local business owner wants to understand what this community actually needs.

Whether you already hire someone, do it yourself, own a business, or have zero interest in landscaping - we still want your perspective.

šŸ”—šŸ‘‰ https://form.typeform.com/to/k6FdmiXf

The survey takes 4 minutes or less, and your feedback directly shapes what’s offered (or not offered). You can also help by SHARING locally!

Thanks so much for helping us build smarter, community-driven services šŸ’š

Ever drive by a property and see potential? That’s my lane. I scout unique commercial spaces, map the opportunity, and build turnkey business blueprints - market research, brand identity, revenue modeling, positioning, and a launch plan. Then you can buy the full package and (optionally) bring me on for launch marketing and ongoing consulting.

I am NOT a RealtorĀ®, and this does not include the purchase of the property. (But I know several wonderful experts!)

The sketches shown here are from a concept for a prime commercial lot in downtown Wharton - location withheld for now, but you might recognize it. šŸ˜‰ It's got very low capital investment with potential high-yield recurring revenue model.

If you’ve got a big idea (or need one) and want a pro to think it through end-to-end, I’d love to help.

šŸ‘€ Be on the lookout: I’ll be listing these Blueprints packages on my website soon so you can browse ready-to-launch concepts by location and category.

Jaw-Dropping Stats Meet Small-Town Action šŸ’„

Out of all U.S. citizens, only about 10% are business owners.

Of those, fewer than 20% have a formal, written marketing plan.

And the number of teenage business owners? Less than 1%.

So let me introduce you to something extraordinary:

• Seven teenagers
• From a rural Texas town
• Each with a business idea
• Each building a formal marketing plan
• Each rewriting what’s statistically ā€œnormalā€

These students are participating in my Teen Entrepreneurship Intensive, a 6-day business boot camp built for small-town dreamers. By the end of it, they’ll have not only developed and refined their business ideas! They’ll walk away with real marketing plans, pricing strategies, and elevator pitches in hand.

Let me say that again:

Seven teens. With real businesses. And real marketing plans.

That’s 7 more than most towns ever see!! And I’m so honored to be part of their journey.

If this is what our rural youth are capable of with just a little structure, imagine what we can unlock by planting this seed in more towns, more communities, more futures.

If you're a school, EDC, chamber, nonprofit, or just a believer in young people, I want to bring this program to YOU.

Let’s raise up the next generation of rural CEOs... starting right where we are.

Attention Baby Boomer Business Owners 🚨
Are you wondering how to exit your business without closing the doors for good?

I’ve developed a powerful new presentation that tackles an increasingly relevant topic: Baby Boomers who own small businesses often face tough decisions about their future. Many are choosing to shut down their legacy businesses because there’s no succession or transition plan in place.

But here’s the good news: there are better options! šŸ’”

- Residual pay

- Continuing the legacy of your brand

- Walking away with a surprising sale price instead of closing out with regrets

I'm ready to bring this presentation to your local business group, Chamber of Commerce, or professional network to share these valuable insights.

šŸŽÆ Business Owners: Want personalized advice? Message this page or call Amy at 979-200-2865 to schedule a one-on-one conversation about how you can create an exit strategy that works for you and your legacy.

šŸ“¢ Important Update for LLC Owners: FinCEN Corporate Transparency Act Compliance šŸ“¢

Hello everyone! I recently came across a crucial update that all LLCs (many of my local small businesses) need to be aware of—the FinCEN Corporate Transparency Act. Under this act, all LLCs and corporations are now required to register their business entities by the end of the year, or they could face fines up to $500 per day for non-compliance!

šŸ”¹ What is the FinCEN Corporate Transparency Act?

This legislation aims to prevent illegal activities such as money laundering and tax evasion by requiring business entities to disclose beneficial ownership details to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). This step provides transparency and helps ensure accountability for business operations.

šŸ”¹ Who Needs to Register?

If you own an LLC, corporation, or a similar business entity, it’s essential that you register by the deadline. The registration involves submitting detailed information about the beneficial owners of your business, including:

- Full legal name

- Date of birth

- Residential or business street address

- A unique identifying number from an acceptable document (such as a passport or driver’s license)

šŸ”¹ Consequences of Non-Compliance

Entities that fail to comply with this requirement may incur fines as high as $500 per day, which can add up quickly! This is not an optional filing, and every entity should take it seriously.

šŸ”¹ What You Should Do Next

Because the Corporate Transparency Act is still relatively new, I recommend doing some additional research to understand how this may impact your business. Consult your CPA or attorney for guidance on how to navigate these new requirements. They’ll be able to provide you with the expertise needed to ensure compliance and avoid any penalties.

While this is not my area of specialty, it aligns with my passion for keeping business owners informed about important updates. Let’s stay proactive and ensure our businesses meet all new regulatory standards!

For those looking to stay updated on topics like this, follow along as I continue to share insights that can help you run your business smoothly.

Costco is a masterclass in operational excellence and brand loyalty. Known for its famous $1.50 hotdog and low prices on essentials, Costco’s success is built on a sophisticated strategy that makes it one of the world’s top retailers.

Here’s what sets Costco apart:

āž”ļø Pricing Strategy: Costco operates on a slim ~17% margin, which is incredibly low compared to competitors like Walmart (~45%) and Sephora (~70%). They achieve this by leveraging bulk purchasing and a limited product selection of around 4,000 SKUs, curated for each region’s specific needs. This lean inventory also allows Costco to simplify logistics and negotiate better deals with suppliers.

āž”ļø Employee Investment: Costco’s starting wage of $18.50/hour and time-and-a-half pay on Sundays isn’t just about ethics; it’s smart business. Treating employees well translates to lower turnover, better customer service, and a strong internal culture that fuels their brand reputation.

āž”ļø Operational Efficiency: Costco’s supply chain is one of the best in the business. With only ~4,000 products on their shelves (compared to 30,000+ at most grocery stores), they’re able to fine-tune sourcing and logistics, keeping costs low while delivering quality goods. Products like their famous rotisserie chicken, sold at a loss, draw in shoppers regularly and build loyalty.

āž”ļø Core Values: Above all, Costco stays true to its roots—providing quality products at affordable prices, investing in its people, and fostering a culture of respect. Even as they file for expansions and increased profits, they prioritize sustainable growth over quick wins.

So, what can rural businesses learn from Costco?

While you may not be able to replicate their bulk-buying power or extensive supply chain, there are key lessons in operational efficiency and customer focus that apply on any scale:

⭐ Be Selective: Curate your products to fit the unique needs of your community. Knowing what your customers want, and focusing on fewer, high-quality offerings, can set you apart and streamline your operations.

⭐ Invest in Your People: Happy employees are loyal employees. Even small raises, additional training, or flexible hours can make a big difference. Your team is your frontline—if they feel valued, they’ll deliver a better experience for your customers.

⭐ Embrace the Long Game: Think of growth as something sustainable, not just rapid. Focus on building trust, delivering consistent value, and retaining customers. Sustainable growth isn’t just good for you; it’s good for your entire community.

Costco’s success shows the power of sticking to your principles while optimizing operations. Small, rural businesses can leverage these insights to thrive—building customer loyalty, fostering a positive work environment, and establishing a sustainable path for growth. Consistency and commitment to your values often speak louder than trends.
