LITTLE CREATURE Highlight: Geckos!

Grab a pack for yourself with the Etsy link in our bio.

Fun fact: Gecko feet are one of nature's greatest engineering achievements.

They can walk up glass walls and across ceilings using millions of microscopic hair-like structures called setae on their toe pads. Each hair splits into even tinier tips that create a molecular attraction to surfaces called van der Waals force.

LITTLE CREATURE Highlight: Spiders!

Grab a pack for yourself with the Etsy link in our bio.

Fun fact: Spiders don't actually have muscles to extend their legs...

They can only pull them inward with muscles. Instead they extend their legs using hydraulic pressure, pumping a fluid called hemolymph into each leg to push it outward! This is why a spider curls up when it dies.

The hydraulic system shuts down and the legs contract inward permanently. Tiny, terrifying, hydraulic machines. 🕷️

LITTLE CREATURE Highlight: Ducks!

Grab a pack for yourself with the Etsy link in our bio.

Fun fact: Ducks have bills specially designed with built-in filters called lamellae. They are comb-like structures that let them filter food from water like a tiny built-in strainer.

But the really wild part is that duck bills are packed with sensitive nerve endings, making them incredibly touch-sensitive. Almost like fingertips!

LITTLE CREATURE Highlight: Axolotls!

Fun fact: Axolotls can regenerate almost any part of their body limbs, heart tissue, and even parts of their brain! With no scarring whatsoever.

Scientists are actively studying them in hopes of unlocking regenerative medicine.

But here's the kicker: they're critically endangered in the wild, found only in a single lake system near Mexico City. One of the most medically important animals on Earth, and they exist in just one tiny spot.

LITTLE CREATURE Highlight: Lobsters!

Grab a pack for yourself with the Etsy link in our bio.

Fun fact: Lobsters are biologically immortal! Technically!

They don't show the typical signs of aging and actually get MORE fertile as they get older. They keep growing their entire lives and show no decline in strength or reproductive ability with age. What eventually gets them is the physical exhaustion of molting their shell, which takes more and more energy as they get bigger. They don't die of old age. They essentially die of being too successful at growing.

The oldest known lobster was estimated to be around 140 years old. 🦞

LITTLE CREATURE Highlight: Sea Cucumbers!

Grab a pack for yourself with the Etsy link in our bio.

Fun fact: When threatened, sea cucumbers can literally eject their internal organs out of their body as a defense mechanism, and then just... regrow them!

It's called evisceration, and they do it completely on purpose to distract predators. They can regenerate everything within a few weeks. Absolute chaos goblins of the ocean floor. 🥒

Fun fact: The hammerhead's wide, flat head is called a "cephalofoil". It is essentially a giant sensory array!

It's packed with electroreceptors that can detect the electrical fields produced by other animals, even ones buried under sand. Having their eyes so far apart also gives them nearly 360° vision, meaning they can see above and below them simultaneously!

Fun fact: Bigfoot sightings have been reported in every U.S. state except Hawaii.

The Pacific Northwest is the undisputed hotspot, and since we're located in Montana, we're basically in prime Bigfoot territory. 🏔️

LITTLE CREATURE Highlight: Alligators!

Grab a pack for yourself with the Etsy link in our bio.

Fun fact: Alligators are one of the closest living relatives to dinosaurs, and they've barely changed in over 37 million years!

But here's the really wild part: the temperature of the nest determines the s*x of the babies! Warmer nests produce males, cooler nests produce females. No chromosomes needed, just the weather! They're basically ancient, armored, temperature-controlled egg machines. 🐊

LITTLE CREATURE Highlight: Scorpions!

Grab a pack for yourself with the Etsy link in our bio.

Fun fact: Scorpions glow under ultraviolet light!

If you shine a black light on a scorpion in the dark, they light up with an eerie blue-green glow. Scientists aren't entirely sure why. It may have something to do with detecting moonlight levels, since scorpions are nocturnal and tend to avoid bright moonlight when hunting.

The substance that causes the glow is found in their exoskeleton, and even fossilized scorpions that are millions of years old still fluoresce!
