RELOCATION UPDATE: It is confirmed that a few (not all; there are many that do support us) residents in Briarwood and one business, who have filed a valid petition stating that they do not want us in the 16175 W 135th Street location. What does that mean? We will need a 6-out-of-7 vote at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, August 18th. What does that mean for our future? If we get a yes vote: as soon as the SUP is processed, we move all operations into the 16175 W 135th location. No vote: we will operate out of the 14910 W 119th Street location for another week and temporarily shut down all of our operations until another temporary location is found. This location has been back-leased, so staying there is not an option. It was never intended to be a permanent solution. At this time, we are trying to make multiple plans, based on the outcome of the vote. No matter what, next week we will need A LOT of help relocating. Not knowing the outcome, we can’t make any definite plans. Many people continue to ask, “how can we help?” Continue to send letters to the Mayor and City Council Member sharing “why this building” & “what positive impact this building” will make for the community and those we serve. Show up Tuesday night at the City Council Meeting showing your support. If you have a red Starfish Project shirt, wear it. If you don’t, Starfish Project lanyards can be picked up at the 14910 W 119th Street location. We also encourage you to wear red to show your unspoken support. You can also help by watching our posts and, when we send out an ask for help, jump in when you can. Our core volunteers have worked harder than smarter all summer due to the circumstances to ensure services were still provided for our community. They can really use the fresh energy, muscles, and support. Starfish Project Foundation is our community serving our community. We can’t wait to be in a permanent location, so we can bring all our services back online and truly support each other. Please remember, not everyone is going to agree, and we can all agree to disagree. Most importantly, BE KIND as we continue to work through this process. We want to thank everyone in advance for their support. We can’t do what we do without our family, friends, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community support. THANK YOU!
