Today we proudly celebrate our Founder & Community Partnership Guide, Dr. Tasha Parker, PhD, for being named a 40 Under 40 Honoree by the Wichita Business Journal.

This recognition reflects her vision, integrity, and deep commitment to community. Through healing-centered strategy and equitable partnership building, she continues to create spaces where organizations and communities can move from intention to impact.

We are honored to walk alongside her as she continues to advance community-driven change across Kansas and beyond.

Please join us in congratulating her on this well deserved recognition.

Today, the Institute of Development had the honor of attending Kansas Black Legislative Day at the Capitol. We were proud to facilitate a participatory data collection experience through a Community Story Walk centering lived experience, community wisdom, and truth-telling.

We know that lifting voices does not always mean they will immediately shape what comes next. Still, we are committed to gathering these stories, synthesizing the themes, and returning them to both legislators and community members, because change is rarely instant, but it is often seeded.

Thank you to the leaders and community members who showed up, spoke up, and stood together. Your voice matters. We will keep planting, tending, and protecting these seeds together.

The Institute of Development is taking intentional time to rest, recharge, and realign as we prepare for the work ahead in 2026.

Our year-end pause is an important practice in our healing-centered and liberatory approach that honors rest as resistance, care, and clarity.

We’ll return on January 6 ready to continue partnering with communities and organizations in transformative, grounded, and strategic ways.

Take good care of yourselves during this season.

Remember: Rest is a practice. Rest is power. Rest is healing.

Happy Holidays from the Institute of Development!

As we close out another year, we pause to honor the people, the stories, and the lived truths that shaped our work. We are grateful for every partner, community member, evaluator, and leader who trusted us with their experiences and walked alongside us in the work of healing, learning, and transformation.

This season invites us not only to rest, but to remember to hold what is true, even when it differs from what we’ve been told. At IOD, we believe transformation begins when truth is named, memory is honored, and people are seen in their full humanity.

May your holidays be filled with deep rest, meaningful connection, and moments of renewal that restore both your spirit and your courage.
Thank you for trusting us with your stories and your work. We look forward to continuing the work of transformation rooted in truth, care, and collective possibility in the year ahead.

With care,
The Institute of Development Team

Even while we step away on our year-end rest period, we remain rooted in community.

Today we invite you to honor the collective truth that:
When we rest, we make room for community to breathe, imagine, and grow.

What does collective rest mean to you?

Last week, Institute of Development Founder & Community Partnership Guide Dr. Tasha Parker, alongside Dulcinea Rakestraw, Strategic Impact Partner, guided evaluators through a transformative pre-conference workshop titled “Beyond Do No Harm” at the American Evaluation Association Conference.

Together, they introduced the Trauma and Resiliency Informed Equitable Evaluation & Approaches (TRIEE-A) framework — a healing-centered methodology that bridges trauma science, resilience theory, and justice-centered evaluation.

Participants examined how trauma shows up across systems, how traditional evaluation can unintentionally cause harm, and how TRIEE-A provides a pathway toward safety, transparency, voice, collaboration, cultural awareness, and collective care.

We’re grateful to join evaluators across the country who are committed to approaches that not only avoid harm, but actively support healing, equity, and liberation.
