It’s the first day of school in Williston! As students head back to the classroom, we’re asking everyone to slow down, stay alert, and pay extra attention around school buses and school zones.
School buses are YELLOW for a reason. Yellow means CAUTION...And when those RED lights are flashing and the stop sign is out, it means STOP.
🛑 North Dakota law requires drivers to stop when meeting or overtaking a school bus from either direction while the bus’s flashing red lights or stop sign on the control arm are activated.
🛑 Stay stopped until the bus resumes motion, the bus driver signals you to proceed, or the flashing red lights and stop sign are no longer activated.
🛑 Passing a stopped school bus is against the law and can result in a $50 fine and 6 points against your driver’s license.
Today, and every school day, let’s slow down, stay alert, and give our kids the extra attention they deserve.
When the bus stops, you stop. 🚌🛑
