Our new house needed a lot of work when we moved in... we still have lots to do, but we are doing a little at a time! I have a giant window in my living room that needed curtains. Since I have a limited budget and didn't want to blow it all on curtains, I made them! I got two 6' X 9' canvas paint drop cloths for $11 each and made a stencil from a design I found online. I didn't have to sew a stitch- I just folded the top, ironed it and hung the curtains with curtain rings! I love the way they turned out and love even more that it only cost me less than $25!
The next project was a 36" round wall clock for my kitchen wall... I made it from a wood pallet that I cut round with my jigsaw. I wanted a semi steampunk look with the gears, which are painted metallic and found the Roman numeral template online (I just blew it up using the Block Posters website). It is now hanging on my kitchen- I just need to order the clock hands and motor to make it a functional clock! Total cost for this was just $2 for the pallet and paint that I already had...
The last two pics are of a shelf that I made from a great piece of old wood that I rescued from a burn pile- someone was actually going to burn this beautiful slab of wood!! I had to sand it forever because it was really rough, stained it, and gave it about 5 coats of hardwood floor poly, so now it is smooth and durable. It weighs a TON, so I attached it to 3 brackets and hung it directly into the studs. It is just a simple shelf, but is probably one of my favorite things- I love the primitive look against the metal brackets! Total cost for this- FREE (I already had the brackets)!!!!
Now it's time to get back to work on some pieces that aren't for me! If you have any questions about the projects I did, just let me know!
