Good rainy morning, everyone! I saw this in the Pulaski County Journal today. Off the gate- I am not against selling corn and soybeans to Taiwan. If that's how you want to use your property- by all means. What bugs me is the double standard, including by some in this picture. You can't, on one hand, cry that we are losing farmland, a private commodity to remind you, and will not be able to put food on our tables, and on the other hand, celebrate an agreement to export corn and soybeans to Taiwan. If a farmer wants to grow corn and soybeans and sell them to foreign nations, they should be able to do so. If a farmer wants to lease their land for solar and produce energy, they should be able to do so as well. In both cases, the government should not intervene in what WE choose to do with our land!
What do you think?
