Jonathan Jaskola is celebrating his five-year anniversary with MWSCO as a Fire Services/CO2 Technician. Jon joined MWSCO after learning about an open position through his neighbor, who encouraged him to pursue what seemed like a great opportunity. Since joining the company, Jon has especially enjoyed the opportunity to travel, work in new environments each day, and connect with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

What Jon appreciates most about MWSCO is the strong family-oriented culture that sets the company apart. From the beginning, he has felt welcomed, valued, and supported by both leadership and his coworkers. The environment at MWSCO promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and meaningful relationships, creating a workplace where employees are encouraged to grow both personally and professionally. When asked to describe MWSCO, Jon chose the words family, loyal, and reliable. He shares, “My favorite part of working with this team is the freedom of not having to see the same things every day, along with the opportunity to help people along the way. That is something I truly value.” One of the most important career lessons Jon has learned is the value of being patient, understanding, and taking the time to fully learn and grow through each experience.

Outside of work, Jon enjoys fishing and spending quality time with his family. Family plays a central role in his life, and with a family of nine, there is never a dull moment in their household. Between sports, school events, and family activities, life is always active and full of energy. Jon and his family also care for two dogs, Loui and Levi, along with ten chickens. In his free time, Jon enjoys traveling, especially to tropical destinations, and he and his family value the opportunity to visit relatives in Germany.

Before joining MWSCO, Jon worked as a die casting lead supervisor, a position quite different from the fire services industry. However, that experience helped him develop strong leadership, problem-solving, and team management skills that continue to serve him well today. Something that may surprise others about Jon is that he holds an auto mechanic degree and is also an Eagle Scout.

Looking ahead to the future, Jon hopes to continue growing his career with MWSCO by taking on new opportunities and expanding his knowledge within the company. He is eager to further develop his skills, learn additional aspects of the business, and continue building strong relationships with his team.

Thank you, Jon, for your hard work, dedication, and contributions over the past five years. MWSCO is fortunate to have you as part of the team!

On Wednesday, April 29th, a few employees from our La Crosse team participated in the Build My Future event. Build My Future is a hands-on career day for high school students that showcases the variety of opportunities in the skilled trades and similar industries. MWSCO brought the trades to life by giving high school students a chance to step up and try welding for themselves. With guidance from our experienced professionals, students suited up, learned basic techniques, and got hands-on experience striking an arc and creating their own welds. For many, it was their first time holding a torch, and a moment that sparked real interest in a future in the trades! Thank you to everyone who participated in this event and helped make it successful!

Join us in celebrating Kim Jass-Mahoney on her 5-year MWSCO !

Read about his MWSCO journey below! 😁📰

Kim Jass-Mahoney, the current E-Commerce Marketing Coordinator, first heard about MWSCO while she was working for Winona County. At the time, she was seeking a role that would allow her to reconnect with the creative aspects of her work. The opportunity at MWSCO stood out as an ideal fit, offering both creative engagement and a strong company reputation. Additionally, Kim had previously worked closely with Stacey Huber, E-Commerce Manager, whose outreach about the position immediately captured her interest. One of the aspects Kim values most about her role is the balance between flexibility and creativity. She enjoys using her background in graphic design to bring innovative ideas to life, making her work both engaging and fulfilling. What she appreciates most about MWSCO is its family-friendly environment and the genuine care shown toward employees, which she believes makes a meaningful difference in the workplace. Kim describes MWSCO as supportive, reliable, and evolving. She also highlights that the best part of working with the E-Commerce team is that everyone brings something different to the table and there is a level of trust that allows everyone to do their best work each day.

Compared to other organizations she has worked for, Kim believes MWSCO stands out in all the right ways. As a family-owned business, it fosters a culture of care and support that creates a positive environment where employees can thrive. The best career lesson Kim has learned is the importance of being intentional in your work and choosing what really makes you happy. When you pair that with strong systems and structure, it creates both balance and better results.

Outside of work, Kim enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their 6-year-old daughter, actively supporting all of her activities. She is also a proud pet owner to two dogs, Mochi, the loveable lap dog, and Poppy, the fierce protector of the family. In her free time, Kim runs a small wellness practice in the evenings and on weekends, which she has become very passionate about over the last years. Kim and her family also enjoy spending time outdoors whether it’s hiking, biking, swimming, and traveling. Kim’s family also enjoys going to her in-law’s hobby farm in Lake City where they can spend some time with various animals.

One of Kim’s most memorable experiences was a trip to Aruba, where her husband proposed! During the trip, they explored the island by renting a car, hiking, and discovering secluded beaches. Something that would be surprising to learn about Kim is that she once helped ghostwrite a life story for a friend before her passing. “Later, her family turned the story into books to share at her funeral. It was an extremely meaningful experience!”, explains Kim. Earlier in life, Kim also enjoyed being an adrenaline ju**ie. Participating in activities such as bungee jumping and skydiving, though she now hopes her daughter doesn’t inherit that same thrill-seeking spirit. Prior to joining MWSCO, she also held unique roles, including DJing at Winona Radio and working in the stained-glass industry, both of which reflect her diverse creative background.

For the next 10 years, Kim wants to keep growing with the E-Commerce department as things change and evolve each year. Her hope is to continue contributing ideas and helping support the growth in this department!

Thank you, Kim, for your dedication and contributions to MWSCO. We are truly fortunate to have you on the team!

Join us in celebrating Tony Fitzgerald on his 10-year MWSCO !

Read about his MWSCO journey below! 😁📰

Tony Fitzgerald began his career journey at TRW, where he worked in shipping and receiving. During that time, a close friend, Kim Whetstone, informed him about an open position for a Fire Services Technician. Seeing an opportunity for a new challenge, Tony decided it was the right time for a change and applied for the role. Tony initially joined the team working on kitchen hood systems before transitioning fully into the role of Fire Services Technician. He has now been serving in that position for eight years. What Tony enjoys most about his job is the opportunity to meet new people and the variety that each day brings. No two days are ever the same. One morning he may be inspecting fire alarm systems in a busy office building, and later he might be servicing fire extinguishers at a local school. Each location brings a new environment, new challenges, and new conversations.

What Tony loves most about working at MWSCO is the people he works with every day. He describes the team as motivated, hardworking, and committed to doing the job right while continuing to learn and grow. There is a strong sense of teamwork throughout the company, and coworkers are always willing to lend a hand, share knowledge, or help troubleshoot a problem. For Tony, this supportive environment makes a meaningful difference for delivering high-quality service. Whether servicing fire protection systems, helping customers better understand their equipment, or solving challenging issues on-site, the MWSCO team is dedicated to doing the job well. In addition, Tony values the flexibility and understanding the company shows its employees. Management recognizes that life happens outside of work and strives to support staff when personal situations arise. When asked to describe MWSCO, Tony uses three words: friendly, outgoing, and family-oriented.

The best career lesson Tony has learned so far is the importance of truly learning every part of your job. In his experience, the more you understand about the work you do, the more confident and effective you become. By taking the time to learn the details like how systems work, why procedures are done a certain way, and how to handle different situations, you can approach each task with greater independence and confidence. Before joining MWSCO, Tony worked as a dispatch manager at TRW, where he coordinated trucking routes between St. Paul and Chicago. Reflecting on his previous experiences, Tony says that MWSCO has provided the most opportunities for growth and has a team of people who genuinely care about their work.

Outside of work, Tony loves to go camping with his family and their dog Sully at their permanent camp site at Rivers Edge in Galesville, Wisconsin. Tony also enjoys a nice cold beer in the garage after a hard day’s work! Something interesting about Tony that would be surprising is that he is very friendly! “There are very few people I have met that I actually don’t like”, Tony says with a smile. He’s the kind of person who can strike up a conversation with almost anyone and quickly make them feel comfortable. Whether he’s meeting a new customer on a service call, talking with coworkers, or chatting with someone he just met, Tony approaches people with an open and positive attitude! One memorable trip Tony took was with his family to the Port of Aorta Mexico. Known for its vibrant Malecon boardwalk and tropical environment.

Looking ahead, Tony is beginning to think about retirement over the next ten years, but he remains eager to continue learning about new technologies within the fire services department. He also hopes to continue contributing in the shop for as long as possible.

Thank you, Tony, for your hard work and dedication to MWSCO. We are very lucky to have you!!
