Meet our Firefighter of the Month for June, Firefighter Angie Koszty!

At noon on Friday June 5th, Gleed Fire units along with auto-aid from Naches Fire were dispatched to a fast moving brush fire driven by steady winds in the area of Pleasant Valley Place. Arriving units found approximately 3 acres already burned and the fire was moving north and north east. Additional resources were requested from area agencies to fight the wildfire and protect one home to the east. These units included hard working men and women, brush trucks, water tenders, structural engines, additional command units and a helicopter from WA DNR. A total of approximately 20 acres were burned and units were on scene for 5 1/2 hours. Gleed Fire is very grateful to our partner agencies for your assistance and hard work! Thank you Naches Fire Department, Selah Fire Department, WA DNR, City of Yakima, West Valley Fire Department, East Valley Fire Department and a neighboring homeowner with his bulldozer who had some of his property burn as well. As a reminder, the burn ban is currently in effect.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We honor their courage, service, and dedication to our nation.

We’re always happy to help our neighbors!

So it begins. Yesterday Your Selah Fire Department was dispatched to a fire on Sage Trail Rd in East Selah. With the help of our mutual aid partners, Gleed Fire Department, Naches Fire Department, Federal Firefighters of Yakima IAFF Local F-295, Washington State Department of Natural Resources we were able to stop the fire without any loss of structure and no injury to firefighters or home/property owners. Thank you to all involved.

Also just a reminder that when we have a fire, it is not a good time to go take a drive in that area. We know people are curious, but when people drive close to fire scenes it can impede firefighting operations and put everyone at risk of injury.
