Yakima County Fire Protection District #6 is located three miles west of Yakima and provides services to 5,306 year-round residences.

We operate from two stations and have 20 volunteers and one paid full time employee - the Chief.

At our drill last Wednesday we trained on drafting from a static water source using our Engine and utilized our Jet Siphon to transfer static water from one Porta-Tank to a second.

We’d like to give a huge thank you to our community for your continued support in passing our Levy Lid Lift! This levy will assist us with the increased cost of staffing, maintenance, supplies and our equipment. We sincerely appreciate your continued support! 💚🚒

Also, we are pleased to announce that our WSRB Protection Class Rating has improved, it was previously a 6 and is now at a 5! This improved rating reflects the fire protection capabilities available within our community. Protection class ratings are used by insurance companies to underwrite insurance for commercial and residential insurance policies. Residents within Yakima County Fire District 6 are encouraged to contact their insurance providers to better understand how this
updated classification may apply to their individual properties. If you have any questions about our new protection class rating, please reach out to us at 509-966-5060, we’d be happy to answer any questions! Our Department would also like to recognize Ret. Fire Chief Ken Frazier. Last year Chief Frazier put in a lot of hard work to help improved our rating, he spent countless hours completing paperwork and maintaining our equipment to get us where we are today. THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported us for our 2nd annual Pancake Feed! We had the opportunity to serve over 220 community members from around the Valley!

We had great time catching up with neighbors, seeing new faces and sharing a meal with friends! We feel very blessed to share this community with you! 🚒❤️

Events like this wouldn’t be possible without the generous donations and support of our local business, clubs and community partners, we’d like to give a big thank you to Mel’s Diner, Yakima Vintiques Car Club, Ret. Assistant Chief Steve Ingram, Primo Brands Water, Ray’s Meats, Hoops Yakima, Wicked Brew and the Naches Fire Department!

📣📣 T-SHIRT SALE 📣📣

This year at our pancake feed on August 8th, the Gleed Firefighters Association will be selling their new T-Shirts! Prices will vary depending on sizes, they’ll have sizes available from youth small through Adult XXL. Limited quantities available. We look forward to seeing everyone on August 8th for a delicious pancake breakfast!!

On Saturday August 1, 2026 at 1:21 AM Yakima Co. Fire District #6 / Gleed Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire in the 2900 block of Mapleway Rd. On arrival the structure was fully involved. Gleed units began a defensive attack on the fire and called for additional resources, a tender alert, and a second alarm. Auto-Aid and Mutual aid resources responded from Selah Fire District #2, East Valley Fire District #4, Naches Fire District #3, The Yakima Training Center, The City of Yakima Fire Dept., Highland Fire District #1, and West Valley Fire District #12.

We are very thankful for the response of our Auto and Mutual Aid partner fire districts. We are also thankful to our other partner agencies who provided response and support: Valley Fire Dispatch, AMR Ambulance, The Yakima County Sheriff's Department and Pacific Power.

Unfortunately the structure was a total loss. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
