So! What‘s your poison?
When it comes to killing germs most people look to a label that reads “disinfectant” but that shouldn’t be good enough for your family because most disinfectants include Quatennary Ammonium Compounds which are formed with a nitrogen atom in the center of a molecule which doesn’t sound at all like something safe to use. These quat based disinfectants are widely accepted as common practice for cleaning, sanitizing and inhabiting the growth of Bacteria’s, molds, fungus’ and mildew and they do the job of killing quite well so they are broadly acceptable to be used in medical facilities. They are most often odorless, don’t stain the surface, are not corrosive and antimicrobial---I mean really! What more could you ask for in a disinfectant?
Well---- you should be asking a whole lot of questions. After all, radon gas is colorless, non-corrosive and odorless; but it will kill you slowly over time. Most of the disinfecting products out there contain either bleach, ammonia or quaternary disinfectants and have you believe you are keeping your family safe by inhibiting viruses and bacteria’s with their use.
However—there is much more to the story. There is a 20-year study based on findings by and published by the American Thoracic Society’s American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine that suggests cleaning with national brand cleaners that use chlorine bleach, ammonia or Quaternary disinfectants over as little as one time per week will significantly and permanently damage lung tissue and has a relevant comparison to smoking a pack of ci******es a day for 20 years.
Furthermore: if there is an accidental ingestion of once of those toxic products you will need to be on op of your game with the poison control center, Likewise should they splash into the eyes.
