Schooner Mary Day - Good Morning from the sunny Coast of Maine. Yesterday was an incredible first day of summer starting with watching the sun rise through the fog behind Curtis Island and getting back to Camden Harbor in time to watch the big schooners departing for a few days sailing the Coast of Maine! Here the majestic Mary Day is being pulled out of the harbor with a lot of happy passengers!

How is everyone? Believe it or not, I’m finally caught up, from Tuesday’s to do list! My Coffee of the Day, Colombia Narino Honey, so good! It will certainly make this day even better!

Enjoy the day my friends and have a tremendous Thursday!- Dan

Yesterday, we had an incredible visit from Inger Ruffels from Stamford, whose great-grandfather owned oyster sloop Nellie.

Ruffels was accompanied by her grandson Don Martin and his family from Kansas. The family was given a tour of Nellie which is currently under renovation in the Henry B. du Pont Preservation Shipyard.

Inger explained that her great grandfather had worked on Nellie when it was both as an oyster and a lobster boat. When Inger’s late husband, Art Ruffels, was a boy in the 1940s he worked on the Nellie, out of Stamford. Inger told us that Art often said it was “the hardest work I ever did.”

The whole family was deeply touched by the care the Museum was taking of Nellie.
