Most people think the cooler weather sends stink bugs indoors. The truth is, they begin looking for a place to spend the winter while the days are still warm.
Once they're inside the walls or attic, they stay hidden until winter.
Then, a warm day in January or February wakes them up, and suddenly they're crawling across your windows. ๐ณ
Now is the time to do the following:

Inspect your home's exterior.
Walk around your home during a sunny afternoon. If you notice stink bugs gathering on siding, around windows, or near the roofline, they're likely looking for a way inside.

Seal the easy entry points.
Replace worn weatherstripping, repair damaged screens, and seal cracks around windows, doors, pipes, cable lines, and utility penetrations. Small gaps can make a big difference.

Reduce exterior lighting when possible.
Bright outdoor lights attract many insects, and insects attract other pests. Switching unnecessary lights off or using warmer-colored bulbs can help reduce nighttime activity around your home.

Don't wait until winter.
Once stink bugs settle inside walls and attics, removing them becomes much harder. Preventing them from getting inside is far easier than dealing with them months later.
