A Great Time was had by our FCWC team last week at the Electrical Wire Processing Technology Expo! We got to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Dan was particularly excited to have met someone who is actually from Idaho. He’s never been able to close the loop on that!

The history of April Fools’ Day is quite intriguing. It’s believed to have originated in 1582 when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar. Those who failed to realize that the start of the new year had moved to January 1 and continued to celebrate it during the end of March through April 1 became the targets of jokes and hoaxes. They were called “April fools.” Pranks included placing paper fish on their backs, symbolizing a young, easily caught fish or a gullible person.
The day has been celebrated for several centuries by different cultures, though its exact origins remain unknown. It’s a day known for playing hoaxes or practical jokes on others, often ending with an exclamation of “April Fools!” to reveal the prank. The tradition has spread throughout Britain in the 18th century and has evolved over time.
