Happy retirement, John!
John has been a trusted advisor to the Kinsley family for almost 40 years. He served in many roles over the years – field superintendent, maintenance manager, and director of employee services and risk management, just to name a few. He has been our go-to guy for numerous responsibilities and roles throughout his tenure. Always one to do whatever was asked of him, John has given more to us than we can ever put into a simple social media post. When asked about his time at Kinsley he stated, “This is the best company on the planet. No matter how large it gets, you aren’t just a number. The Kinsleys are a great family and have great folks working for them.”
There was no shortage of people willing to sing his praises, from “a good listener, easy to work with and a great friend,” to “someone you can always count on.” One co-worker stated, “He is one of a kind. He’ll do anything you ask and yet won’t take the credit. When he speaks, you listen because you know he has the knowledge, experience and really cares about you and his job.” One of his mentees also had a lot to say, “Without his knowledge, experience and mentorship, I wouldn’t be the employee I am now. My hope is to serve the company as well as he has over the years. John, I promise to never empty the rectangular filing cabinet!”
While we’ll miss him dearly, we know he will keep himself busy. He has always been civic-minded – he served as a volunteer firefighter for 30 years and later was the fire chief – and participated in numerous Boards and Councils over his career. When not working or volunteering, he and his wife, Sue, love to travel. Mostly, they follow their grandchildren around to various sporting events (they are quite the hockey family) but also just like to see new sights. They also frequent the mountains of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, exploring the trails on their four-passenger UTV. Thank you for your years of service and for helping to make Kinsley the success it is; we hope you have a great retirement, John!
