The annual assessment appeal deadline of August 1, 2022, for assessed values effective for tax year January 1, 2023, is almost here! The following counties have an August 1st deadline: Adams, Bucks, Butler, Cambria, Chester, Dauphin, Erie, Fayette, Franklin, Indiana, Lancaster, Lawrence, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, and York.

Please be aware that each county has its own set of rules concerning assessment appeals. Jameson, son of our Business Development Team member Nicole Shanabrough, was bitten by a dog as a toddler. While he doesn't remember much about the extensive surgery he underwent, he does remember the kindness shown to him by the nurses and hospital staff.

"I remember a cart coming around and a nurse would ask me what toy I wanted. I got to pick out a toy or two and it lifted my soul," Jameson said.

Wanting other children to have a similar good experience in what can often be a scary time, Jameson began collecting toys to donate to local hospitals - calling the collection efforts Jameson's Wish.

Since 2019, Jameson's Wish has been able to donate over 6,000 toys, games, and arts and crafts materials to various hospitals for their youngest patients.

This year, Jameson hopes to collect 2,500 toys for Janet Weis Children’s Hospital in Danville, PA.

Happy March!

If you file property taxes in Allegheny County, the deadline to file a real estate tax assessment appeal for the 2021 tax year is March 31, 2021. Allegheny County is the ONLY county in Pennsylvania where you appeal the assessed value when the assessed value is already in effect.

It is highly recommended that property owners of any property type affected by the government restrictions due to COVID-19 (e.g. hotels, restaurants, bars) take a close look at their assessed values for 2021 and consider filing as assessment appeal for 2021.
