Last week we had the opportunity to attend the kickoff meeting for the next phase of Age-Friendly York County, an effort grounded in a simple but powerful question: does it work for people of all ages?

This initiative, led by the York County Community Foundation’s Embracing Aging program in partnership with the York County Commissioners and now co-led by YCPC, continues to build on York County’s participation in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities.

The focus is clear: creating more walkable neighborhoods, expanding transportation options, improving access to services, and supporting housing that adapts to people’s needs over time. These aren’t just “nice to have” features, they’re essential to building stronger communities, supporting economic vitality, and ensuring residents can live well at every stage of life.
