A client came to us celebrating a strong year.

Their books showed solid profit. Revenue was up. Things looked good.

When we reviewed the books properly, the actual profit was significantly lower than what was reported.

The gap came from three things: job costs that were miscategorized, materials that were never billed back to clients, and overhead that was never allocated to specific jobs.
