📈 Week 21: Global Pepper Market Briefing
Here is what you need to know about the Vietnamese black pepper market this week:
🔍 Firm Global Demand: Demand remains strong across the US, EU, and Asia, particularly for forward contracts stretching into late 2026 and 2027.
📉 Tightening Supply: Nearby supply is currently limited because farmers are holding onto their stocks.
🌱 Super El Niño Risks: The next crop in Vietnam’s Central Highlands is facing threats from Super El Niño. This raises concerns about lower yields, reduced rainfall, irrigation shortages, and higher pest pressure.
🚢 Rising Freight Costs: Logistics are becoming a major cost factor, with Asia–Europe routes estimated at USD 140–220/MT. Expect June rates to the EU/MED to rise sharply as shipping space remains tight.
