I’m seeing a lot of new faces around here lately. Hi, and welcome! 👋 Tell me where you’re from and what you do—I’d love to get to know you and find ways for us to connect.

A little about me: I’m an indie writer, director, producer, and festival director currently making my first feature, the horror-comedy Trash Queen, starring my co-writer Emily Tullock, Chris Kattan, Matty Cardarople, Lynn Lowry, and other incredible artists.

We’re currently fundraising for Trash Queen, and when I’m not working on that, I’m writing features for future production.

Many of you found me through my post about The Last Bite, a vampire noir now in its second draft. I’m also developing a feature about Lois Weber, the first American woman to direct a feature film.

In other words, I have a LOT of stories I want to tell. 😂

But enough about me—I want to know about you. What’s your dream project—the thing you’d make if you knew you could get it made?

Throwback to filming 'She, Who Dared: The Lois Weber Story' with DP Chris Esper and actors Katie Killourhy as Lois Weber and Paul Noonan as Philip Smalley.

We filmed this shot as part of our silent-film recreation of 'What Do Men Want?', Weber’s 1921 film exploring toxic masculinity.

As we built the montage, I thought it would be interesting to include an image of Weber and her husband, Philip Smalley, hinting at the possibility that the film was informed by troubles in her own marriage. The two divorced shortly after the film’s release.

Sadly, 'What Do Men Want?' survives only in fragments today. For 'She, Who Dared', we were able to recreate its ending thanks to a very old article that preserved the film’s final title cards.

You can watch many of Lois Weber’s surviving films through the Library of Congress.

Our 'She, Who Dared’ proof of concept, which screened with a live orchestra in 2023, isn’t publicly available yet, as the project is still in development as a feature film.

Until then, here’s a little glimpse behind the scenes.

Hello all!

Joan of Art is currently producing an independent feature film shooting in Washington State this October.

The project has distribution in place, named talent attached, and a strategic marketing plan that includes a targeted theatrical rollout. It also qualifies for the Washington FilmWorks incentive program.

We are in the final stage of financing and are seeking 1–2 additional investors to close by July 1. The project is structured with investor protections and a clear path to revenue participation.
