BREAKING: The first cone is out for Tropical Depression Nine in the Gulf. It’s forecast to become a tropical storm by early Wednesday and a hurricane Thursday. The next name is Isaias (ees-ah-EE-ahs).
The storm is expected to turn northeast and move toward the northern Gulf Coast Friday into early Saturday. A Category 2 hurricane is possible before landfall somewhere between southeast Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle. There’s still significant uncertainty in where it makes that turn and how quickly it reaches the coast.
Wind shear will probably cause some weakening near the coast, Everyone from SE Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle should keep checking the forecast.
