Okay one more big win today!

I just got this text from an Oral Surgery group we’ve been working with! They have two locations and are expanding to their third one!

I love working with humble leaders who value their people! 🥰

I also appreciate my team working on the back end to run reports, build presentations and customize the materials for the leaders we support.

Jodi!
I want you to know how much I appreciate the work you have done for my team ! The management team is totally energised and moving forward In such a wonderful way. I feel a relief of the changes that have been made already.
💗Thank You💗

Grateful to be on this podcast! Learning so much!

Last night we drove to a very remote part of Costa Rica.
We found ourselves on a dirt road and a dead end.
I was a little freaked out.

We were nearly 3 hours from home. Our expectation was that we would see a bioluminous beach. Instead we saw dark ocean, no clear entrance to the ocean and very little clarity on what’s next.

Then my husband saw a dimly lit path with a sign for a tour company.

“I’m going to walk down this path and see where it leads,” Isaac said.

I was not excited or happy about it.

We are in jungle, there are snakes, animals, and we are going to walk down a path and hope we find what we need?

But I was tired and grumpily complied.

We walked for a bit and came across a home with a family eating.

To say we freaked them out a bit is an understatement.

I did my best to explain we were just some lost gringos looking for a tour or the ocean or something.

He pointed us down the path.

We kept walking, getting eaten alive by bugs and the path was broken, switching between dirt and broken cement.

“This is so scary” I kept telling myself.

Then we came to this cool hut and opening. People were eating and a lady greeted us. She was suprised by our arrival and could see we had no clue what we were doing.

I asked if she knew about a tour, or if there is an opening, but inside I felt like there was no way..

Well there was a way. She did have an opening for 5 people, exactly what we needed.

A kayak tour for an hour where we go out and watch the ocean light up!

The tour was incredible!

We kayaked in the pitch black ocean and watched in awe as our paddles created a glittery light all around us.

We sat in our kayaks and looked up at the Milky Way, the consolations, and listened to the jungle.

Our highlight was when we swam in The ocean and watched light shine all around our bodies.

Our energy was feeding the energy in the algae and creating this incredible light.

We finished late, and drove home knowing we just had an incredible adventure.

There is so much symbolism in this experience.

I’ll be reflecting on this for awhile.

Launching change management in an organization can be tricky!

That’s why I’ve identified that there are 5 operational geniuses needed to make ideas stick.

This came after years of being frustrated that my ideas were not sticking in Operations.

That’s when I started to watch how team members interact and build what I call The 5 Operational Geniuses.

Once I understood this, it made launching projects, ideas and change management much easier, and I could include these geniuses in the process which insured that I covered more basis, and got better results.

#1 INNOVATOR: the person who loves new ideas, brainstorms new ideas and is thinking about the future possibilities. Their ideas can often go beyond departments, and can expand to the industry as a whole.
They can’t turn it off.
They often disrupt the teams systems. Sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s distracting. They have a hard time knowing the difference.

#2 CREATOR: they have the ability to take the ideas and create concrete plans. They map the path forward.
They are known for taking ambiguous brainstorms and defining the steps, people, resources, and time needed to make the idea come to life. They can help protect the innovator and help the innovator understand the difference between good ideas and less then stellar ideas.

#3 BUILDER: these team members have an ability to build concrete materials, documentation, and other resources to help ensure the plan turns into meaningful material.

#4- IMPLEMENTOR: these team members enjoy taking plans and deliverables and training team members on how to utilize these new resources. They are extremely aware and interested in the end user experience with the new innovation.

#5- REPEATERS: these team members maintain and repeat proven systems. They ensure stability and continual performance in an organization. They advocate for predictable paths and clear measurements for winning. If it is not clear, they will make up their own or feel very frustrated.

Often times when we are building operational systems, or we speak of being innovative, we tend to celebrate and promote the first part of the operational geniuses.

However, we often forget that is the repeat team that ensures predictable, sustainable results.
They are the ones that often determine whether or innovation lives or dies.

This is why at Rev Tribes we believe it takes a tribe for innovation to be effective.
