This is a Limited Edition 2018 Fender 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster in Daphne Blue with a Pau Ferro fretboard and nitrocellulose lacquer finish. This particular example is even more rare because the Pau Ferro fretboard is very dark and could easily pass for Rosewood

Condition wise, I would describe this as very good relic condition. It has lacquer checking, scratches, dings and chips throughout various parts of the body and headstock while the back of the neck is in very good condition free of dings and just some light fretwear. Very cool for character if you prefer a more used look while not sacrificing in the quality and reliability I still bring to every one of my guitars

The 60th Anniversary Model was a popular run, made in Mexico. But this particular guitar was upgraded with all the "right" things that are missing out of the factory. You'll be hard pressed to find a more complete Jazzmaster out of the box.

These Classic series vintage style "Offsets" from Fender sit on a great foundation, but I'm really surprised how they sell any of them because they're setup so horribly from the factory and buzz like crazy with anything less than a set of 12s. Even many of the American made offsets have this same problem because of the same original location of the tremolo (further back), vintage style floating bridge and the lack of break angle on them. This on top of some mediocre hardware and electronics choices from the factory, many of these issues were overhauled so you can enjoy this guitar with a set of 10s and not have to string it up with bridge cables or use one of those Buzz Stops that not only changes the look of the guitar but the feel and tone as well. With these mods, this Jazzmaster will hold its own against American models any day of the week.

Please read further to see the list of upgrades as well as how the guitar was setup:

Very light weight at 7.6 lbs

-Genuine Fender 3 ply mint green pickguard replacing the stock tortoise one.

-Fender Aged White pickup covers and rare Aged White Witch Hat k***s. The stock covers were the lighter vintage white ones (in between parchment and aged white) but wasn't uniform with the aged white k***s. Then instead of keeping the stock Strat styled k***s I opted for these rare Fender Aged White Skirted Witch Hat Jazzmaster k***s. Not to be confused with the Pure Vintage '65 Jazzmaster k***s in the lighter Vintage White color used on many American Vintage, American Original and American Professional models.. These are not sold as parts and have only been used on a couple Fender models making this even more unique. Now the covers and k***s are both aged white and pair beautifully with the mint green pickguard

-Seymour Duncan Jazzmaster Antiquity II pickups ($200+ upgrade). These are arguably the closest thing to vintage sounding pickups on the market. They have the distinctive mid-60's twang, with a very warm, open sound.

-CTS 500K solid shaft volume and tone pots. These are what really take vintage style Jazzmaster pickups to another level. The stock 1meg pots can sound a little shrill, so they were bumped down to 500K which make that top end a lot smoother but still plenty of highs on tap. Also the solid shaft pots was a better match for the new witch hat k***s

-American Vintage Jazzmaster Tremolo with lock and push in bar with aged white tip ($100+ upgrade). This allows you to lock the tremolo if you break a string as well as more easily measure the string tension via the tremolo. It's a lot harder to properly set these guitars up when you don't have the lock to help you gauge this.

-StewMac 0.25 degree full wood neck pocket shim. This is one of the main reasons why these guitars are never setup right from the factory and buzz like crazy and don't sustain with lighter gauge strings. This allows the bridge height to move up and increase the break angle after the bridge and give you enough tension to use lighter gauge strings without having to use a Buzz Stop or heavier strings while still retaining that classic Jazzmaster feel. The problem with using a Buzz Stop is that it increases the string tension so much that it starts to feel and sound more like a Strat or Tele and that looser Jazzmaster magic is gone.

-Revised 2018 American Professional Jazzmaster narrow spacing 9.5" radius bridge with Mustang style saddles (over $120 upgrade). This is the current updated version of the American Professional bridge that has the modern 2-1/16" (52mm) string spacing that brings the strings further away from the fretboard edge and a lot more comfortable to play. The original version of the American Professional bridge (and stock bridge) had the vintage 2-3/16” (56mm) spacing and was almost unplayable in my opinion. Fender quietly made this update a couple years ago and essentially makes this a lot more like a Staytrem bridge (and same spacing as the Mastery bridge too). Like the original, it still has the Mustang style saddles and tighter threading screw posts so it doesn't sink down overtime when you play

-American Vintage bridge thimbles. These have the wider standard diameter and are constructed better than the import version it came with stock (these are also wide enough to fit a Mastery bridge if for whatever reason you prefer those without worrying about changing the thimbles because it's already been done). When the neck pitch and break angle is setup properly on these guitars as it is, I still prefer the American Professional bridge and also love the more traditional look over the Mastery.

-Treble bleed circuit (.001uf cap and 1/4w 150k resistor in parallel) to allow the highs to remain when you turn the volume pot down and not get muddy.

-Orange Drop .033uf tone cap. This is the same value as stock but generally considered an upgrade

-Fully shielded the pickup and control cavities with copper tape for reduced noise and much quieter operation. These guitars can be quite noisy without it.

(Luckily these models already have good quality CTS pots for the rhythm circuit and Switchcraft output jack so I did not need to touch those)

-Lock washer added to the 3-way toggle and also turned the switch 45 degrees so it's at an angle and easier to switch than side to side

-Fender/Schaller strap locks and buttons (locks inside case compartment)

-Radius'd, Sanded, smoothed and polished the nut and sharp edges for a more comfortable feel similar to the American guitars. A lot of these Mexican Fender guitars have almost no refinement finishing on parts of the guitar like the nut or fret ends. This is a lot more comfortable now.

-Fender American Vintage tuner bushings replacing the narrower and cheaper stock ones

-Kluson Supreme 18:1 Staggered tuners ($60 upgrade). These are the best vintage style Kluson replacement tuners out right now and still retain that same classic look, but with a much finer tuning adjustment over the stock 14:1 tuners and also a better break angle over the nut on the D and G strings for better sustain. Not to mention these are genuine Klusons while the stock ones are not

-Fender G&G Deluxe Jazzmaster hard case in brown tolex with brown leather ends/handle and gold poodle plush interior. These cases are classic, not to mention it's also a major upgrade over the cheap Pro Series case it came with stock. It’s not only built better but slimmer, sleeker and a nearly $300 upgrade alone. Key included in the compartment!

I also wanted to mention that the 60th Anniversary commemorative neck plate is lightweight aluminum and is 1/4 the weight of your standard steel neck plate (about 0.5 oz vs 2 oz)

On top of these upgrades, it has also been cleaned, polished, oiled and conditioned the pau ferro fretboard and fully setup with brand new D'Addario EXL110 (10-46) strings with enough relief in the neck balanced for both lead and rhythm and a light touch (5/64" string height on the low E and 4/64" on the high E strings). The saddles have been perfectly intonated and the bridge already has the 9.5" fretboard radius. The nut slots have been cleaned and filed for optimal contact and take off points for better sustain. The neck and bridge pickup heights are adjusted to 5/64" on the bass side and 4/64" on the treble side.

I fully stand by the work and believe this guitar is going to feel and play better than any other stock 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster you're going to pull off the shelf new at the store or find NOS and will put it against any of the American Vintage, Original, etc. versions any day of the week, all because of things like the over $500 worth in upgrades (which doesn’t even include the labor) and attention to detail in the setup. You're just not going to get that from a new model unless you perform all of these upgrades and do or pay for the work yourself. Why not just be done with it, have all the upgrades already completed with an awesome hard case and come out ahead with a better feeling, playing and sounding guitar? 🙂

Here is a copy of an email I sent to Investor Relations department at Spirit Airlines. I just felt the need to share this and I hope it goes viral. It probably won't get far as there are no pictures but it's still worth a shot:
Spirit Airlines
I am writing because I would like as many people as possible to know about my experience using the Spirit.com website and the subsequent horrible customer service I received when I called to get help with the booking I was trying to make on the website.

On 2/6/2024 I searched spirit.com for a flight, as I have done many, many times before. I found a flight that had enough seats for my family of 5 and I had enough points to cover the entire thing. This was the first time I ever found such a scenario. I entered the birth dates of my three children and went on to book the flight. A window popped up that said I did not actually have enough points to cover it and that I could buy 2000 more points for $53.00. So I did. The screen froze and would not allow me to click the button to continue with the booking.

I went back to the beginning, found the flight, entered all the birthdates again, this time, a window popped up saying I needed another 2000 points and I could buy them for $53. It was at this point that I called the customer service line. All this took place in the space of about 3 minutes. Customer service said there was nothing they could do because prices are subject to change at any time. ok, sure. Makes sense. But at the time I am in the process of booking the flight and BUYING MORE POINTS TO COVER THE DIFFERENCE, (the difference which only popped up after I attempted to book) the price should remain locked. It was mere seconds.

I spoke to 3 different people about the issue and no one offered to help me in any way. No one suggested a solution, or the ability to help me complete the booking, nothing. They all just said oh well and sorry.

I went back to the booking page and began the entire process over again. I even tried checking just the cash price, and the points plus cash. I tried everything. I went back to just points. I found the flight, entered all the birthdates, BOUGHT 2000 MORE points for another $53 and hit the button to continue with the booking. I followed all the way through luggage and picking seats, etc and clicked the button to book. The message came up saying a confirmation email would be sent to the contact person listed (my husband).

I checked the confirmation email this morning (that would be the following morning) so I could share the itinerary with the family we were planning to visit. The only problem was it said confirmation pending which I had never seen before. Inside the email it said payment was not processed, which is really weird because I was "paying" with points. I immediately called customer service because the email instructed me to do so, and, the day before I was told that if I had had a confirmation number then they could have helped me with the booking. So this time, I had a confirmation number! I gave it to the representative and she said ok, you're all set, it was processed and you will get a confirmation via email. Just to be sure, I asked to confirm that it was for all five of us and she said no, it was only booked for my husband.

The conversation continued with me in complete disbelief. I had not only gone through this process multiple times but was forced to buy extra points TWICE (to cover the balance for ALL of us to fly!) because the system, or the customer service, or whomever, would not honor the original price. And I had resigned myself to the fact that I would just pay the extra and get on with it. And THEN THIS happens. Why would the system tell me to buy more points to cover the difference if, after all, it wasn't booking all of us????? After going back and forth several times with the rep who had to consult her supervisor, I was no better off than before I called. And she even had the nerve to say it was more than 24 hours after the booking so she couldn't help me but if I had reached out 3 hours sooner, she could have helped me. What a joke! So, my husband had a ticket to fly to Florida but none of the rest of us. And I had 4000 extra points to just store in his account and add to the 44,000 remaining points that were just not quite enough to cover the 5 tickets.

Even after all of this, still on the phone with the rep, I went back to the website to see if I could still book 4 more tickets for the rest of us. Well, it said there were only 2 seats left at the listed price, which by the way, was hundreds of points more than the previous day. I tried to book it anyway and it said I needed to buy more points. I had been here before and with Customer service's unwillingness to offer support, assistance or understanding of any kind in this matter, I just asked for a refund of the points and the extra money I was charged for the one ticket. (yes, still charged money on a purchase that was supposed to be just points on top of buying points)

I can't express how disappointed I am with the entirety of spirit airlines. I have flown spirit for 19+ years. I have taken my entire family on countless trips. I always heard nightmare stories from friends, family and complete strangers about their awful experiences with spirit and I always defended the airline. I would proudly announce that I had never had a bad experience at all from booking, to getting seats, to the flight itself. I am sad to say, I can no longer proclaim this. I am angry that despite my attempts to relay the situation to multiple people, I was told repeatedly, oh well. I was even told that the system only saved my husband's information because the booking was made using his account. This really made me scratch my head because I ALWAYS book the flights for my kids under one of us. They don't have their own accounts. I mean, it was baffling to hear this. How would one go about booking flights to include their children if the system wouldn't recognize them anyway? I was conned into buying more points to cover the difference between what was advertised and what I was being charged, and then cheated out of the tickets anyway! Three times!

I'm sure this email will just get deleted and ignored but at least I know I tried to tell someone. As far as future travel, I'm not certain I will ever fly with spirit again. And maybe the loss of my business is no big deal to anyone, but I think your investors should at least get fair warning about how the customers are being treated by this airline before they bother investing. I know I would not want my name or business associated with a company that operates in the service industry and behaves this way. And if enough people are disgruntled enough to boycott, it's only a matter of time before there's no one left to be suckered by Spirit Airlines. I wonder if maybe we should all hire an attorney to take this on.
