This weekend in Seattle, something stood out: the conversation around severe aplastic anemia is changing.

At the Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation Patient Conference, people are asking important questions about the future - what innovation could look like, how access can improve, and what progress means for their lives.

Last week, the Gamida Cell leadership team spent the day on Capitol Hill meeting with Members of Congress and their staff to talk about something that matters deeply to us - helping ensure patients have access to the care and treatment options they need.

Our CEO Dr. Joe Wiley, President Sheila Frame, and Executive Director Policy & Patient Advocacy Tom Larmondra met with several offices throughout the day, including time with Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Representative John Joyce, MD. We’re grateful for their leadership in supporting access to care, encouraging innovation, and advocating for people impacted by rare diseases and those who may need stem cell transplant.

These conversations are important. For many patients and families, stem cell transplant can represent a critical path forward, and programs like the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program play an essential role in helping connect patients to potential matches and care.

We’re proud to be part of these discussions and remain committed to working alongside policymakers, clinicians, and advocates to help improve access and outcomes for patients.
