Ndindi Nyoro’s Dangerous Gamble: You Cannot Inherit the Mountain by Becoming Its Escape Route.
If reports that Mt Kenya MPs linked to UDA are considering moving to Ndindi Nyoro PPK are true, Ndindi may be walking into a dangerous political trap.
There is a difference between building a movement and becoming an escape route for politicians fleeing an unpopular brand. Mt Kenya voters are unlikely to forget a politician’s record simply because they change party colours.
The lesson from recent by-elections is clear: government endorsement no longer guarantees electoral support. If PPK becomes a shelter for UDA-aligned politicians, Ndindi risks inheriting their baggage instead of building his own political identity.
The bigger question is simple: What does PPK stand for? Is it a genuine national political project, or merely a safe vehicle for incumbents ahead of 2027?
Ndindi should remember that political vehicles do not create movements—voters do. You can change the vehicle, but you cannot easily change the passengers or their history.
The mountain is not a company whose shares can be divided among politicians. Its voters are not transferable assets.
Ndindi therefore faces a defining choice: build an authentic movement based on ideas and public trust, or become the political landlord for leaders escaping a collapsing establishment.
History will judge those two choices very differently.
