Georgia Sawmill Services Who we are-
Woodworking is what we love to do. For unique custom sawing, a charge of $50 to set up and then $50 per hour that the mill is actually sawing.

As an extension of this passion, we purchased a band saw mill and are pleased to offer milling services to folks in the area. We love the beauty of various lumber and do our best to custom saw what you require from the logs you have or provide lumber from trees we have sawed. If you need a custom mantle, table top, beam, or just lumber for a fence, it would be our pleasure to assist in filling tha

t need. Some of our services-

-custom sawing at your location
-moving trees to our location to saw
-providing lumber for furniture, cabinets, lathe turning or framing etc.
- help in removing unwanted trees
-providing finished or rough lumber

Pricing-
Several pricing models are available. Custom sawing at your location is priced base on the quality of the cants (trees) and the type of product desired. (A mileage charge is added for distances over 30 miles.) Secondly, sawing based on board feet produced is an easy way to know what it will cost for the amount of lumber you receive. If the logs are easily accessible, and appropriate logs for typical sawing, this method may be the best suited for you. Expect to pay between $.25 and $.30 per board foot based on size and condition. If you are not familiar with board foot calculations, please refer to this chart for pricing by the board dimension. A recent price check at the big box home store had red Oak selling at $7.00 and more per board foot. That's roughly 28 times the price. Lastly, if you have some unique, nice logs, and we have a need for some lumber of that species in our inventory, a trade off of logs for services may be reached.

I have several pecan slabs available. The ones, shown, that are planed, are just over 6’ long and 23” wide, at the widest point, when book matched together. The other sets are about 4’10” long and each slab is 21” on the wide end. This would make a nice wide table top surface. These would make a beautiful project. The sets sell for $150. I also have some individual slabs from the same tree. Tons of other lumber is available. Nice quarter sawn red and white oak. Poplar, nice pine for table tops, 8/4 red oak, and a little bit of many other species. I’ve hoarded lumber long enough. It’s time to make some room to move around the shop.

We sawed some beautiful pine yesterday. This will be molded into flooring with a 3 1/4" reveal. You don't see much pine with this tight of growth ring pattern these days. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Last summer we sawed lumber from trees being cleared for new construction. Richard Hankins sent me this picture of the kitchen completed with the lumber. He used the oak, rough mostly, on the counter tops, barn door and the stove vent cover. Great job. It's always nice to see the trees removed for a house, go right back in and be enjoyed in other ways.
