UK Customer Report Bitcoin 2024

In our latest report, we explore trends using internal data from a random sample of 2,000 UK users who engaged in Bitcoin transactions in 2024, analysing demographic patterns and buying/selling behaviours throughout the year.

Key Findings
1) 51% of customers have been transacting for 3+ years.
2) 86% of transactions were buys.
3) 51% have never sold Bitcoin.
4) Lightning Network adoption is growing.
5) 88% have bought Bitcoin more than once.
6) Customers are not the typical young risk-takers.

Businesses Buy More Bitcoin Than They Sell

The total transactional volume of our sample stands at £55 million.

On average, businesses made 97 transactions; 67% buys and 33% sells, over their lifetime.

These figures underscore businesses' optimism about
Bitcoin’s future price appreciation and highlight their strategy of gradually accumulating through regular, smaller purchases.

The Bitcoin industry has observed a growing trend of both public and private companies adding Bitcoin to their balance sheets. Our aim is to provide business owners with a clear and accessible overview of this emerging trend, leveraging insights derived from CoinCorner’s internal data.

Key Findings:
1) Buy Bitcoin little and often: Long-term Bitcoin accumulation is favoured, demonstrating confidence in its potential future value.

2) Bitcoin is accessible: The average Bitcoin buy was £324 with the lowest being just £1.

3) Businesses HOLDing Bitcoin: 61% of our business sample have never sold their Bitcoin, reinforcing a long-term strategy.

4) Bitcoin is for all industries: There are a diverse range of non-financial industries holding Bitcoin, including sectors like healthcare and construction.

5) Micro-businesses lead Bitcoin adoption: 84% of businesses holding Bitcoin have fewer than 10 employees.

6) Established companies embrace Bitcoin: 10+ year old companies are increasingly adding Bitcoin to their balance sheet, recognising its potential as a long-term asset.
