Grow through your storms, my friends…
Unfortunately, we live in a tough world, but perhaps this truth might lighten your burden. I believe it can, and I hope you’ll give me the chance to show you how by spending a few minutes with me here.
Life may have already shown you hard times, or maybe not, but it won’t matter regardless. I don’t care who you are or where you’re from, what you have or don’t have, what you’ve accomplished or haven’t, or which family you were born into. There’s one thing that’s assured and certain - we are bound to encounter storms repeatedly in our lives, as long as we still draw breath.
The mistake most people make is waiting for troubles to come before deciding or trying to decide how to get themselves out of the situation. Taking action on whatever needs to be done to get yourself out of trouble is usually the easier part. The hardest part is the decision-making, especially deciding on what attitude to maintain while going through the storms.
First, let’s define what a storm actually is - an enabler, a growth mechanism. You may not see it this way, and that’s alright; that’s no fault of yours. You only know what you know and don’t know what you don’t. Stay with me for a moment and please keep an open mind. Regardless of how you choose to see life’s storms (troubles or problematic situations) or have chosen to see them in the past, the truth is, storms are there to actually help us.
Storms are meant to lift you up. The tougher the storm is to bear, the weaker you are in your current state, and the more you actually need that storm to build your strength, character, and resilience for the next storm. Every situation brings with with it treasures waiting to be unearthed. But the key to this these treasures is a “certain way of thinking”, which I’ll talk more about in the following paragraphs.
What sets conquerors apart, and will set you apart, is deciding ahead of time (right now) how you are going to approach your storms. You already know it’s coming - guaranteed. When, not if, it arrives, will you be prepared? Decide you are going to grow through your storms and this will set your mind in a “Growth State”.
A growth mindset positions you to thrive instead of merely survive a situation. This is how winners are the happiest and perform at their best during tough times. In my opinion, having a growth mindset is the only true way to enjoy any painful process while you look forward towards the end goal. This mode of operation will have you planning and envisioning your life way beyond your current situation.
If you’re faced with troubles yet find yourself being at peace at your core, not giving too much energy to the issues but rather focusing on potential solutions, while being grateful and even open to go out of your way to help others, it’s a sign of growth!
To your freedom,
Jack Osei
