Are you already obsolete?
This won’t be easy for most entrepreneurs to hear, but everyone who works inside of an organization, team, or company is on the road to obsolescence. It’s not a matter of if, but when.
Continuous learning has the potential to extend ones lifespan of contribution, but eventually they will hold the team back, and their mere presence will become a liability. In fact, the higher up within an organization someone is, or the more tactical/hands on their role is, the more of an impact their obsolescence will have when the organization wants to grow beyond their skills, energy, or capacity. This is unavoidable.
The first key is to be self-aware enough to understand when that point is and to continuously delegate and elevate yourself out of the organization.
The second key is to develop the next generation of leaders who can take on your areas of responsibility one day...for the greater good of the organization.
Founders syndrome tends to blind entrepreneurs to this fact, which means they must surround themselves with people they trust to tell them the truth, and not be afraid of potential conflict.
