Lately I've noticed plastics such as nylon and polyester in so called biodegradable products such as jute netting and w**d mats. If you threw plastic into the bush it would be called littering. If you put it in the ground with some plants it's called conservation and ecological restoration.

After observing the European honey bee foraging on what looked like myrtle rust, I decide to take a look at some pollen collected by my bees at home and was quite surprised by how many bacteria and fungi there was. I had never considered bees as a means of dispersal for microorganisms.

When it comes to bees collecting rust spores they could be beneficial by reducing the spore load by efficiently collecting them and taking them to the hive where they will consumed and also major vectors by switching from collecting spores to collecting pollen or nectar and not sufficiently grooming in between.

After seeing a lot of boxes around that have fallen apart, I thought I would try my hand at it with a bit of hardwood fence paling. I've seen a few possums in hollows while climbing trees and it always tends to be in a hollow branch so I have tried to mimic that. Also, after obsessing over bees lately, I found that bees like to colonize nesting boxes. I have left a large opening to try and deter feral bees from choosing this as a nest site. Next up will be bat boxes!

My guess is Chrysothrix sp. An interesting type of lichen that doesn't form outer lobes or frills and appears as a dusted surface. Very sensitive to nitrogen pollution and air quality.
