PSA — please read:

We will never send someone out to take photos of your home without notifying you ahead of time. If someone shows up and starts taking pictures, ask for identification—and make sure you either keep their card or take a photo of it (don’t let them just flash it and walk away). Also, grab their license plate number if you can.
This just happened to one of my clients here in the Village. He stated he was a 3rd party hired by her insurance company. I don't hire 3rd parties! I was able to go check in on her and make sure she’s okay, but it was not us, and it’s a good reminder to stay aware and protect yourselves.

Long Read--

I opened my phone this morning and saw three GoFundMe posts asking for help with funeral costs.

My heart truly goes out to those families. Losing someone you love is already devastating—and having to worry about how to lay them to rest on top of that is something no one should have to carry.
But it also breaks my heart knowing that this situation is often preventable.

Here’s the reality: none of us are promised tomorrow. Not everyone gets the gift of old age. Life can change in an instant.

So I have to ask… if you don’t have coverage in place—why not?

If something happened to you tonight, your family wouldn’t just be grieving. They’d be left trying to figure out how to honor your life, while also figuring out how to pay for it.
That’s a heavy burden to leave behind. Taking care of this isn’t fun. It’s not an easy conversation. But avoiding it doesn’t make it go away—it just passes the responsibility on to the people you love most.
And the truth is, it’s often more affordable than people think.

Skipping one pizza a month, a couple fast food runs, or a weekly energy drink—those small choices can add up to real protection for your family.

This isn’t about judgment. It’s about awareness and responsibility.

When we make informed decisions and plan ahead, we build a stronger, more supported community. We give our families the space to grieve without added stress, without financial panic, without having to ask for help in one of the hardest moments of their lives. Take care of it now—while you can.
At least give your family that peace.

Set up for a "drunk" putt challenge to help the Kalkaska County Sheriff's Office to raise money for Kalkaska Public Schools! Don't worry, we are being responsible (we have drunk goggles), but we are hoping for a great turnout of questionable putting 🏌‍♂️⛳️🏌‍♀️

When I come to your funeral, would you rather I bring your family a casserole… or a check?

Let’s be real:
You know you need life insurance. You’ve been putting it off, and every month you wait, it gets more expensive.

I’m not going to stop talking about this just because it’s uncomfortable. I care too much — genuinely. I’ve seen firsthand what happens to families who don’t have coverage. I’ve watched people turn to the community, to friends, to GoFundMe, praying for help during the worst moment of their lives. I’ve answered phone calls from loved ones after someone passed away… hoping, begging, asking if there was a policy in place. And having to tell them there wasn’t — that stays with you.
