GMCC DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DAY 73 OF CONSISTENT PRAYERS

DATE: Wednesday 13th March 2024.

YEAR THEME:
NO LIMITS… SOAR!!

MONTH THEME:
Pray on it, pray over it, pray through it.

TEXT:
Psalms 51:17
“My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise”

TOPIC:
You can’t bribe God!!!

We are living in a very partial world. People have their favorite food, banks, restaurants, dress, music, car etc.
Parents have favorite children.
Pastors have favorite church members.
Favoritism has crept into us so much that we get blinded by it.
The root cause of having favorites is our desire to put special individuals in some exclusive compartments in our life... and we do so because of people ‘s looks, their dressing, the car they drive, the house they live in; sometimes even family background plays a very important role in choosing whom we favour, sometimes it is a person’s educational qualification, race, social status, characteristics of their personality etc.

God does not look at all these characteristics to show favoritism… what moves God is our FAITH in Him and our contrite heart towards righteousness.

My opening text-
Psalm 51 was written by King David after he committed adultery with Bathsheba and had her husband killed to cover his sin (2 Samuel 11).
It has been said of David that he sinned big, but repented bigger.
He remains a model to us of what real heart of repentance looks like.
He wrote this psalm as an organizing cry to God for forgiveness.

Many people reading this devotional miss this truth of heartfelt repentance.
Rather than repent, they try to "clean up their actions," bribe God by giving more money in church or fasting and praying more, or even try to over busy themselves in other religious activity in the hopes that God will finally "get over" being mad at them.

It doesn’t work like that… GOD IS A HARD MAN.
He will not make excuses for anyone who sins.
Let me give you some practical examples;
After Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating from the tree of knowledge, they were removed from the Garden of Eden.
End of story!!

Let me give you another example…When Cain killed his brother Abel out of envy, God exiled him to a life of wandering and hardship.

The people of Noah’s time ALL DIED IN THE FLOOD because of their widespread wickedness, corruption, and disobedience to God’s moral laws.

Both Ananias and Sapphira were struck dead for lying about their charitable giving, highlighting the gravity of deceitfulness, especially in matters of faith and community. They sold a piece of property but conspired to withhold a portion of the proceeds while pretending to give the full amount as a donation to the church.

Korah, along with Dathan and Abiram and 250 other leaders, challenged the authority and leadership roles appointed by God, particularly the roles of Moses and Aaron as chosen leaders of the Israelites. In response, God caused the earth to open up and swallow Korah, Dathan, Abiram, and their households, effectively punishing them for their disobedience and rebellion.

God killed the first borns of Egypt due to their oppression of the Israelites and refusal to release them from slavery despite repeated divine commands and plagues.

Do you know why?
God DOES NOT TAKE NONSENSE WHEN IT COMES TO SIN!!

The fact that you were good yesterday does not mean that if you mess up today, He will overlook it.

Pray on IT, Pray over It, Pray through it when it Comes to HOLY LIVING.

Good morning!!

FAST DAY 4

GOD SAYS “ARISE FROM YOUR SURFACE LEVEL, MOVE HIGHER TO THE ROCK THAT IS HIGHER THAN YOU, FOR I HAVE ORDERED YOUR PROGRESS, SIGNIFICANCE AND SUCCESS RIGHT THERE”

TEXT:
Psalm 61: I-2 says, "Hear my cry, O God: attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I."

TOPIC:
THE CRY THAT PRODUCES MIRACLES…
Learn how to cry to the Lord.

There’s nothing that moves the heart of God more than the honest, humble cries of His children when they are in trouble.

Look through the Scripture and you will see that this is so.

Our Dad-God is a perfect Father who is perfect in mercy. There was a man called- Bartimaeus, who practicalised what my topic this morning seeks to convey.

Mark 10:46 tells us that, "And they came to Jericho: and as He went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus thou son of David, have mercy on me."

What are you believing God for during this time of prayer and fasting?

Do you have a drive to cry in desperation to God in prayers?

How desperate are you to get the answer to your prayers?

The word desperate according to Webster dictionary means: “without care for danger: reckless as from dispair;
2) resort to in the last extremity:drastic
3) in frantic need.
In verse 49, the desperate cry of Bartimaeus did something to Jesus,

The Bible records that "And Jesus stood still, (He could not go further because it is not possible for the Lord to neglect a deep cry) and Jesus commanded him to be called. And they called the blind man (the same people who said shut up) saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise He calleth thee."

How are you crying to God during this time of fast?
Blind Bartimaeus cry wasn’t a cry of excitement, it wasn’t a cry of joy but it was a cry of desperation.

Hear me Child of God!!
Jesus will speak to any unpleasant situation in your life today (joblessness, financial challenge, marital delay, barrenness, business challenge, health problem, etc) and your miracle will appear speedily, in the name of Jesus.
Verse 50: "And he casting away his garment, rose and came to Jesus."
Verse 51 says, "And Jesus answered and said unto him, What will thou that I should do unto thee? a very interesting question, just as He is asking you as you are reading this devotional now.
The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight." Why did Jesus ask him that kind of question? Jesus asked him that question because his first prayer point was mercy, and as far as the Bible is concerned, there are different kinds of mercy in it. So, Jesus wanted him to identify the one he wanted.

Please be specific with your prayer request during this 7days of our corporate time of fasting and prayers.
For instance if you are barren but desirous of having children of your own, then be specific like Hannah was in her request to God,
Hannah requested for a child who will SERVE GOD all the days of his life!!
In 1 Samuel 1:10 the Bible says
“She, greatly distressed, prayed to the LORD and wept bitterly”. (1 Samuel 1:10)

Hannah didn’t deny her problem or her grief.
When she explained this to Eli she said, “I am a woman oppressed in spirit.”
She didn’t try to “put on a happy face” before God. And neither should we, especially during this period.
Hannah vowed that if the Lord would give her a son, she would dedicate him to the Lord’s service (1 Samuel 1:11). Then she prayed, “May your servant find favour in your eyes” (1 Samuel 1:18). Hannah was so intense in prayer and so focused on the Lord, that she was oblivious to those around her.

Be bare before God in your prayer request,
If you are struggling with lies, unforgiveness, worry, fornication or drinking, don’t give excuses… BE HONEST IN YOUR CRY FOR HELP BEFORE GOD…
He will hear you!!

When He does, Show gratitude to Him.

What we do after receiving divine visitation or miracles, matters a lot to heaven.
Our attitude should be like that of Bartimaeus who was full of gratitude to God.

Sunday is going to be our thanksgiving service, practice gratitude, don’t come to church empty handed, show gratitude, package something that cost you something to offer to God in Thanksgiving. .. because HE HAS DONE IT AGAIN FOR US.
Be like Barthimeaus who followed Jesus and made the whole world know the One who turned his life around.

Blind Bartimaeus after receiving answers to His cry…worshiped, praised, and glorified God who turned his night into day.
This attitude is essential in making our miracles permanent.

There are individuals whose miracles don’t last because they have not learned this powerful principle of GRATITUDE.

Bartimaeus' action of open display of gratitude made all the people also give praise to God.

I pray that you will have a life-changing encounter with the Miracle Worker today and always. May all people around you glorify God for your sake, in the name of Jesus.

Amen!!

TOPIC: GOD HAS BLESSED YOU.

God's dream for your life is that you would be blessed in such a way that you could be a blessing to others.

David said, "My cup runs over".

God is an overflow God. But here's the key, you can't go around thinking thoughts of lack, not enough, struggle, and expect to have abundance, and if you've been under pressure for a long time and had difficulty making ends meet, it's easy to develop a limited mind-set.

But I pray you experience the God of overflow.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I come before Your throne of grace, acknowledging Your sovereignty and wisdom.

In my journey, I lean not on my understanding but trust in You with all my heart.
As I seek Your guidance, I pray that You, in Your infinite wisdom, would direct my steps and make my paths straight, aligning them with Your perfect will (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Grant me discernment and clarity so that I may walk confidently in the purpose You have ordained for me.”

IJN AMEN 🙏

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isa 55:8-9)

Topic: Mentorship;
A Problem of Perspective.

In life We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.
The way you see your life shapes your life.

I was living in South Africa in 2010 when the Nation hosted the World Cup.

I remember attending the Match in Durban where Nigeria was playing.

I bought a VIP ticket for thousands of Rands just so I could watch the match unhindered.

It was at that moment I realized that perspective is everything.
From where I sat, I was able to see the entire picture of the game.
There were no hindrances obscuring my view because i was in the VIP lounge.

Money they say is a DEFENSE!!
I agree because from the seats I had previously occupied in other games, I had missed critical moments in the field of play.
My vision had been obscured by the relatively narrow scope I had because of my choice of seat in the stadium.
Frequently, someone would cross my line of vision or an excited Fan will stand up and scream in excitement so my view of the game would be totally blocked out for a minute, and I would not be able to see what was happening on the pitch.

Although I had been present at all those games, I had not had an undistorted, unhindered view of the entire game… until I went to the VIP LOUNGE, each time I return from the field of play from previous games before my VIP experience, I will tell my wife that it is better to watch the match on TV!!
It is like that with us in the lives we lead. We have a limited view that can sometimes cause us to miss the big picture.

Our view is compromised; therefore, we sometimes make mistaken assumptions based only on our understanding brought about by our narrow view.

However, if we are to live in a way that pleases the Lord, we must endeavor to see everything from a higher perspective, that is, from His perspective or vantage point.

What is God’s worldview?
The Cross of Christ is the setting forth, or the expressions, of God’s worldview.

I know today isn’t Bible studies, but can I ask a personal question?
Are you living with divine perspective or human perspective?

What’s God’s way of becoming Rich?

God says “Give!!”
But Man says “don’t be foolish, save, save and save”

I have said it before and I want to repeat it this morning, One’s perspective makes all the difference in this world.

God’s perspective and human perspective are often quite different.
A lot of you reading this devotional either have a human or a God perspective…depending on whose influence affects you most.

Where God sees an opportunity to showcase his glory and provision, humankind often sees roadblocks or a lack of resources.

I’m using today’s devotional to remove the barrier of human perspective and align your world view with God’s.

Let me give you some instances of, “What Man Says Vs. What God Says”

* Man says: “The important thing is whether or not one loves God, not the keeping of commandments.”
* God says: “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous” (I Jn. 5:3).
* Man says: “Thank God for the many churches so that man may find the one that is best suited for Him.”
* God says: “There is one body” (Eph. 4:4). “He is the head of the body, the church” (Col. 1:18).

* Man says: “Join the church of your choice,*
God says: “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” (Acts 2:47). “Every plant, (religious) which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up” (Matt. 15:13). “...and that there be no divisions among you” (I Cor. 1:10).

* Man says: “Each person should follow the way that seems right to them and let honesty and conscience direct.”
* God says: “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Prov. 14:12). “O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jer. 10:23).
* Man says: “Faith only is a most wholesome doctrine and very full of comfort.” “Ye see that by faith only a man is justified.”
* God says: “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only” (Jas. 2:24). “For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love” (Gal. 5:6).
* Man says: “Baptism is not necessary to one’s salvation.”
* God says: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved” (Mk. 16:16). “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins” (Acts 2:38).
* Man says: “Baptism is an ordinance that can be administered by sprinkling or pouring on of water as well as by immersion in water.”
* God says: “We are buried with him by baptism into death” (Rom. 6:4).
“They came unto a certain water: .... and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eu**ch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water ……” (Acts 8:36-39).

Man’s natural way of viewing things is never the same as God’s (Isaiah 55:6-9), and thus we can only know God’s thoughts from His Word, as revealed to us through His Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:14-16).

GMCC DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DAY 10 OF GMCC DAILY PRAYERS.

DATE: 10:01:24

YEAR THEME:
No Limit… Soar!

MONTH THEME:
You are an Eagle.

TEXT:
“Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God.”
Matthew 5:8.

TOPIC:
AN EAGLE CHRISTIAN MAINTAINS A PURE HEART ❤️

We live in a time when purity is not something people think of or talk about.

Jesus spoke about the subject of PURITY OF HEART in detail during His famous Sermon the Mount.

So what did He mean by “pure in heart” in relation to an Eagle man?

A pure heart is one of life's most valuable possessions and can make people feel loved, wanted, and safe.

Having a pure heart doesn't mean having no faults.

Being pure in heart involves having a singleness of heart toward God.

A pure heart has no hypocrisy, no guile, no hidden motives.

In 1 Peter 1:22, we are called to ‘love one another with a pure heart fervently.’

The pure heart is marked by transparency and an uncompromising desire to please God in all things.

Ruth’s loyalty and love for Naomi in Ruth 1:16-17 is a testament to what having a pure heart is all about.

Purity of heart is more than an external purity of behavior; it is an internal purity of soul.

Ruth’s decision to leave her homeland and her people to accompany her widowed mother-in-law Naomi back to Judah reflects a deep sense of commitment and faithfulness that goes beyond mere familial duty.

Her famous words, “where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge,”(Ruth 1:16) underscore the depth of her love and loyalty, as she chooses to forsake her own comfort and security to support and care for Naomi.

Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37 is another documented evidence of a story of a man with a pure heart.
In this parable, Jesus tells the story of a man who was robbed and beaten, left to die on the side of the road. A priest and a Levite, two respected religious figures, pass by the injured man without offering any assistance.

Jesus uses this story to illustrate the importance of putting love and empathy into action, rather than just talking about it. By doing so, you can truly love one another with a pure heart fervently, as instructed in 1 Peter 1:22.

The friendship between David and Jonathan as captured in 1 Samuel 18:1-4 is another powerful story of what it means to be an Eagle Christian.
This story provides a beautiful illustration of love between friends, showing us that love is not only shared between family members and romantic partners but can also be experienced in deep and lasting friendships.

How was their Eagle 🦅 mentality exemplified in practical terms?

It was marked and displayed by loyalty: Jonathan, the son of King Saul, supported David even when his father sought to kill David.
Eagle men and women aren’t loyal to individuals, they are loyal to God’s word.
David and Jonathan demonstrated selflessness by Jonathan willingness to give up his right to the throne in favor of David, recognizing that God had chosen David to be king.
In addition to loyalty and selflessness, they provided emotional support to each other in times of distress, encouraging and uplifting each other, strengthening their resolve.
They also made a covenant with one another, promising to protect and care for each other’s families, demonstrating trust.

No wonder when Jonathan died, David showed kindness to his covenant
friend’s son.

Let me give you the background…
Johnathan had a son who was crippled and living in hiding because he was afraid that David would kill him, not knowing the deal that His death father had with the new king David.

He was afraid because it was customary for a new king to kill the rest of the royal family, so there was no other challenger to the throne.

But David kingship was different, He was put there by God.

So when he became king, he sent for Mephibosheth, Johnathan’s son, so he could, “show the kindness of God to him” (2 Samuel 9:3).

When Mephibosheth came to David, he was expecting to be killed and fell on his face and paid homage to him.
David responded and said, “Do not fear, for I will show you kindness for the sake of your father Johnathan and I will restore to you all the land of Saul your father and you shall eat at my table always” (2 Samuel 9:7).

Mephibosheth became an instant billionaire.
That’s how Eagles 🦅 roll.
The story of David and Mephibosheth, at a first look, just looks like a story, but it holds much more than that.

This situation is like ours and God’s and it shows the relationship we have with Him.

As mortals, We are weak and broken and yet God has a place for us at His table, regardless of our flaws and shortcomings.
Mephibosheth was crippled… the optics of having such a person at the dinner table wasn’t good… but when God changes your story, He doesn’t care about optics…
God loves us so much!!
Hallelujah!!

Pls Go to 2 Samuel 9 and read the story with a fresh pair of eyes and see how David’s kindness is a reflection of an Eagle man.

It’s a beautiful image to read and realize that God is coming to us and inviting us to eat at His table.

Pls Accept his invitation and get to know how great He is.

May GOD help us to be Eagle CHRISTIANS within our areas of influence.
in Jesus name I pray, Amen!

Good morning!!
