The story of the states of India does not center around militancy. The pure essence of the region lies in the rich cultural heritage, art, and beauty of the people, which has been masked for long. Limpuiru Gangmei is an inspiration to many from the Northeast, to bring out their talents onto national and global platforms. Limpuiru Gangmei is a gifted artisan hailing from Imphal New Checkon area. She has been designing customized ornaments for friends and acquaintances for some time now.

Her creations are unique and vibrant with bold use of color and mixed-media such as beads, shell, stone, and boar tusks that are iconic to the Zeliangrong tribe. Limpuiru is faced with the responsibility of financing her entire family. The money she makes out of selling her products is not enough to even make ends meet. With the responsibility of an ailing mother and a large family upon her shoulders, there is a lot of pressure on this hardworking woman. Limpuiru, with her stoic smile, carries on relentlessly.

Once again I stumble upon a product, this time a board game. Oh! what a . Yes, we have completely forgotten the joy of sitting together with family and friends and while the hours away in a board game. It was moments such as these that brought the hearts together and taught a lot of valuable life skills, not imparted in the class rooms.

The Grid Game is a colourful board game that creates beautiful pattern as you play it. Based on the rules of Dominoes, it’s a mix between a puzzle and a strategy game that you can play alone r against up to 10 friends.

The Grid Game was designed as a game with the capacity to engage people by its aesthetics achieved by the material, shape, and colours. The chips are designed to connect cross-linked, height variations in connections help to quickly detect the right arrangement of parts, each chip has 3 sides and is made of wood of different colours types which helps immediate identification.

Estudio Victor Aleman, an industrial designer designed this game, The Grid to bring families and friends together and share and create some happy moments. His designs have been awarded with honors from the American Hardwood Export Council, the Red Dot Concept Design Award, the A + Awards from Architizer.

“For the past three years, we have been designing and playing this board game with our closest friends and doing some tournaments to test the mechanics of the game.
We have been also prototyping and developing the process of production to achieve the best quality. We experimented with different materials and processes of manufacturing, searching for the perfect material that meets our expectations in terms of presentation and ease of use.”

The best part – there is no need to pack it away. Once finished, it turns into a decorative piece that can launch a million conversations.
